It's Mr S's and extended family attitude.
When I came back from UK was talking about the folks in the pub and out 'till 2am.
I got : " and would YOU not stay with them?" have a few drinks :egad:
Said in a kinda God she's boring - type of voice.

When we go to dinner : "what do you want ? SODA WATER?"
Said in a bored when will this phase pass - type voice.

It's ok day to day but becoming a struggle in social situations.

I refuse to come out & say I'm a problem drinker - not to other family members or friends - especially SIL:no:
I just won't do that to myself and have that tag for the rest of my days . Too proud to have whispers about me.

I know this is STUPID - but sometimes I think I need a spectacular event so that it's out in the open? Then the choice is taken away from me whether to drink ever again or not ! Would be easier.

    THE END
Mmmm...I sympathise with your problem satzy, but I don't know what the answer is. You could carry on as you are and hope that they will eventually get used to the idea of your not drinking. Or you could start dropping hints that the tone of their voice is beginning to piss you off and that they had better start getting used to it quickly cos you have no intention of drinking. Or you can make those nearest to you (the ones you feel you can trust) aware of your drink problem so that there is at least some acceptance of your AF status. Sorry...that's prolly not much help, but I'm not sure that there are many other alternatives? Perhaps some of the other troops will have better suggestions?

        Can't stop when I start
The fact they tell us they are healthy - makes it worse :egad: always a little guy on my shoulder saying " go on Satzy - healthy oils ":H
Wish it was just one thing satzy....but pasta, olive oil, and cheese (not necessarily at the same time) have been the biggest problems for me. I know what I have to do to get back on track, but I needed a little comfort food as I gradually adjust to life without alcohol, so I'm not beating myself up about it. At the same time I'm not going allow myself to become complacent about it either.

And yeah...I couldn't be trusted with a bag of fruit and nuts in the house either!

        Morning spidey

          Thanks Reccie - :h
No - that is a good idea - I CAN trust Mr S - so will probably take that route ...

Good morning Arsey, MrsA, Mollers, Satzy, Reccie, MrT, Spiderwoman and to all

Thanks for the brekkie Arsey. Don't work too hard xx

All excited for the 2 ladies getting to see your daughters this weekend

Spider- sorry bout the car, hope ye can get it sorted soon xx

MrT- sooo the young cub escaped the interrogation last night? Phew!!:H

Reccie- you're totally right not to beat yourself up over the comfort food. You are doing so well on the taper, so whatever it takes to keep you with it :l Having met ya I wouldn't say weight is a problem for you at all

Hey Satz- sorry about the problem others have with your lack of drinking. But maybe that's it, is it THEIR problem? If you are happier without, then you don't owe it to them to drink just to make them feel better nor do you have to explain yourself. But that's just my humble opinion.

Beautiful day here so planning a day in the garden Bloody slugs ate all of the bedding plants I planted last week even tho I put egg-shells all around! Gonna plant more today and pulling out the big guns (pellets).. Bye-bye slugs:H

Have a good day folks xxx

They sound like a nosy sarky kinda bunch and its none of their bussiness. I tell few people about my alcohlosm only family a few friends and you my budies here. May be when they make sarcastic remarks again say something drink doesn't agree with me anymore make my tunny ill headaches etc. Hopefully they will get used to it and find something else to bitch about. Good luck. Have a super saturday whatever your plans. Best get my ass outa bed and get something so i can enjoy the sunshinr later.:rays::cupajoe:

Ahh forgot to mention Molls and Anon have a lovely time with your daughters and a safe jorhey to Finland Anon. I would also love to visit some of those Nordic countries but i have heard they are expensive but who knows i might come in to a load of money:H in my dreams:H. Reccie don't worry about the comfort eating at this stage just comncetrate on the taper for now. I'm also comfort eating mainly on chocolate and sweets like mint humbags liquarece allsorts and wine gums apart from choc i never eat any type of sweets when i was drinking so it must be making up for the lost suger from the wine. I'm a bit better this week i cut down on the chocolate and didn't buy any packets of sweets except suger free strong mints which don't taste great but good for breath freshing. I bought more fruit this week so trying to have 2 to 3 a day. i'm bout 2 and half weeks without a drink which is ok so far still no longing to drink or cravings coarse the ab helps. Just taking it odaat. Oh rc love the idea of mr and mrs Jc doing a 3 legged race lol. Well must be off laters folks. Oh enjoy your gardening sweetpie oh i hate when slugs eat my plants

Here we go.........good morning Runners, Our Whizzy,Mollymoo, Satzuma, Reccybear, Sweetypie, Spidy, Foxyloxy,

                      Crikey where to start.

Welcome home, Jilly. You must be beside your self, Molls and family of Molls.

Reccybear. SW tip for you. Chop up a great big bowl of fruit and keep it where you can see it and snack on that. Loads and loads and loads of water.
Oh and JC's tip for the next few weeks. Don't stress the eating thing. You're body is prolly crying out for food when it's been used to getting it's calories from alcohol. Luckily once we've given up the poison we've got the rest of our lives to concentrate on our bodies.

Now then Satz, think everyone's said what I was thinking. You're making them feel very uncomfortable and aware about their own reliance on drinking. Their problem not yours. You just truck along with what you're doing (which is brilliant by the way). No need to march into the restaurant stand on the table and shout GUESS WHAT I'M AN ALKIE. Apart from the fact you'll leave footprints on the tablecloth it leads for a very subdued evening and many trips to the toilet while they talk about you behind your back.

Hang on while I gather enough strength for another post.

I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It's probably the most important thing in a person.

Morning all! I'm glad the weather is so nice for you over there as it is COLD here. Wth - Memorial Day is the 'official' start of summer here and it is 44 deg F ffs! That's about 3 degrees too cold for this time of year! Oh well at least the weather is nice somewhere. I guess you guys deserve it after last summer's constant rain.

I'm so happy that everyone's weekends are shaping up so nicely with families reuniting and all. Reccie, I feel you on the carbs and cheese - they are my go to comfort foods as well. Make sure your planned meals are full of veggies and lean proteins and then I wouldn't worry about the snacks too much. You'll sort it out eventually.

Satz, I felt the ire burning up the back of my neck at the nerve of someone in your business enough to be commenting on the AF drink you were daring to have. When I was drinking I was constantly worried that people were silently judging the amount and talking about it behind my back, never bothering to mention I might have a problem. Now they are confronting out loud about your AF drinks!?! Seems a bit backwards, doesn't it? I would have to come back with a sarcastic, slightly rude response like "Yes, soda water, is that OK with you? I was going to order the 'bucket o' moonshine' special but I wanted to save something for Friday night." to make them realize that their comment is inappropriate and really what I drink is none of their business. Grrrr.
Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.

Morning all Hope everyone is well - Need to run to the market then we're going to the mountains for the day. I am not a huge fan of sleeping over when there are a million people up there. Husbandman took the baby up last night and the other two will go up with me this morning. We have such a huge family that when they all get together it is absolute mayhem. My life during the week is so stressful that I just can't deal with throngs of family sleeping all over the floor, and people up till all hours. Luckily they are not big drinkers so that is never an issue, and I love them all to death, but it is just too much chaos. The kids love it, although not much for the teens to do. I am blessed to have a family like this, but I also need my space. My husband would have the lot of them move in if he could. I already inherited his brother in this marriage (unknowingly) and he knows that if one more family member moves in, he will be moving out! Anyway, hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday.
