I WANT A TATOO!

For years I have wanted to get a tatoo. I always said that I would when I got my divorce. Well here I am. Goin on 2 years and no tatoo. I cant figure out what I want. Or where I want it. I am a pretty conserative gal - not flashy or anything like that. Dont wear a ton of jewelery, just diamonds in my ears and a diamond necklace all that I rarely remove. My earrings are 3 on each side and on one ear - a ring at the top of my ear. So no body pierceings other than that. For some reason that one really bothers me. Gets hurtin all the time. Maybe its cuz I am on the phone all the time? I dunno. I had all three of my children naturally....just the lamaze breathing....seem to have a high tolerance to pain, yet that damm earring at the top of my ear has taken me to my knees on several occasions. Nothing against body piercings but thats enough for me.

I know getting a tatoo isnt exactly painless but I still want one. Just one tho. Not to big and I would like it to be something related to my three sons. Maybe three suns....? Along with some personal fixins about each one. When they were little as I had each baby I thought about little foot prints tatoos or something like that. But never did it.

I want to hear suggestions. What do you all think?

How do you think your kids would feel about it? I guess that would answer it for me.
I'm not a tattoo person myself so I can't give much advice on what to get but 3 suns sounds kinda cute if the sons are into it.

Gab, I always wanted a daisy on the bottom of my big toe. No one would see it unless I wanted them to. My sister has a big ass butterfly on her back and when she goes to sit down her tummy fat rolls back and that thing looks like it's going back into it's cocoon. I think Wee has some. Maybe ask her

Dont jump into a tatoo, I have a few! Dont just get one to get one - you need one that has meaning or symbolic for you! Sometimes it does take a long time for it to hit you, took my husband three years and ended up drawing his own.
The pain is no more than a bee sting and after a few minutes it doesnt hurt that much, you get use to it....I am a big baby and my husband is EVEN WORSE and he did a big one across his back. So dont get yourself worked up!
It will hit ya when the time is right!

2 friends & I decided to brave it one day and have tatoos. We all picked things that related to us and ment something to us. My friend Vee picked a dolphin because she is a professional scuba diver, Emma picked a Zanzibari pattern because she was married in Zanzibar and I picked 2 lion paws because I rehabilitated a lion in the Masai Mara. So your idea of having a tatoo cos of your sons sounds great. Your idea of 3 suns is also unique, but think on it a while and wait til you feel truly inspired. A tatoo is for life!

I had my 2 lion paw tatoos on my right shoulder (back). Its only visible if I'm in a bikini, certain T. Shirts..... or %^&*()!!! Its also in a position that won't sag when I get older!!!!!:H

Oh.... and by the way it does'nt hurt. Have fun.

Maybe put something in the sun - like their zodiac symbol? or make the suns the color of their birthstone?

My cousin actually married a tatoo artist, and from conversations I've had with him, any GOOD tatoo artist should be willing/able to work with you to draw out what you want. If you give him/her a general idea of what you're thinking, they should be able to sit down with a pad and brainstorm with you to create a design you want (then, of course, be able to do it!). If the tatoo place says they only do what they have "posted' (or in shown in books, etc) then find another place to go. Also, you get what you pay for... personalized tatoos will likely cost more, but the professionalism will show

Also, research the place where you get it done... according to my cousin, tatoo artisis are like other artists, each has their own style which will show in examples of their work. Go with one that has a style you like!

As another idea, my cousin has 2 daughters...among other things, she has a flower (orchid?) with her girls' names spelled in vines around it. Turned out beautifully.

It isn't anything compared to child birth and a small won't take to long either. I didn't get mine til I was in my 30's. I love it...kids caring doesn't really matter as they wouldn't even ever see it unless I showed them. Go for it! PS...I had a little earring too and took it out...it hurt all the time, I hated it!
