Good afternoon troopers

Re the exercise stuff it is all horses for courses. It suits me and lifts my mood but I am sure any kind of exercise helps.

Also reading/baking/embroidery/relaxation etc. I am sure are a great distraction from our alcoholic behaviours.

For me hard running and mountain walking although enjoyable leave me feeling so healthily tired there is no room for booze.

Still feel a bit fed up with all the running around after the family :upset:

Aye... exercise is good, but it's also an escape - which can be both good and bad. I use it cos it gives me summat else to do, i enjoy it, and I feel a bit shit when I dont... even though I have no reason to feel shit. I also like the fact that with running i can give myself new aims - faster, further, a wee bit stronger etc.

But that is me. And exercise is just another word for moving - standing at work, being a waiter/waitress, nurse or librarian, policeman or fireman, gardening and house work all are forms of exercise. I think there's just a lot of scaremongering cos there seems to be a rise in a lack of movement in our daily lives, perhaps in part from the rise in technology - both as entertainment, and as means to replace what we once did ourselves.

Of course, we could all just get very active sex lives and shag our ways to physical well being
