    Underoo's and friends July 2013.

byebyebridgetjones;1530250 wrote: Look does anyone mind if I have a small early morning download?

I asked some friends over this last weekend just gone and the first thing they/she said was 'Well are you going to drink?'
When I re-iterated for the 15,000th time that I don't like drinking anymore they decided not to come.
Now is it me, or is that bloody rude?
Sorry but it's been bothering the shit out of me for days. If I'm not prepared to drink and act like the village fucking idiot, they don't want to come over any more? Is that it?
And it's not as if this is breaking news or anything. I've been sober for a long time now.

Anyway thanks for being here Undies. Sometimes I just get the bothers about things....
I've been in your position Bridge. I find life much happier making decisions that support my sobriety however difficult they may be. I still maintain friendships with folks I use to drink with. I just don't have them to my home. I have also lost a few too. I've also made lot's of new friends via my triathlon and hiking groups. Yes, a few of them drink but no one ever ever makes a point of it. Most of those drink one or two beers. Yikes the thought :H My life is good.

      Wow!
I don't think I have enough friends to start a data base
It' funny isn't it Glassy One? I don't think people realise exactly how much life is going to (have to) change post grog. Not putting a drink to your lips is just the first step, that's all.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.

You know, I was wondering. Does Voila drink?
Because I could not take up with a drinker now. They annoy me at the best of times (including these flogs from the weekend). I simply could not have it around me. The smell!

I think my spreadsheet is shorter than yours :H

Techie is right though. Finding friendships based on who you are now is probably going to turn up more like minded folk, and people who know you for the new improved you. And don't forget the Reason, Season, Life quote.

Off to be B & extremely imporDant...well bathe anyway...

Edit: Hi Siren, thanks for the update...off and into it Undies

Viola has an occasional glass of wine. She is not even what I'd consider a social drinker. We have been to event's and she'll prefer a sparkling water vs. alcohol. We can all find that type of individual in both romantic and friendly relationships.

People here run over echidnas.... they are such beautiful little creatures, almost blind and slow moving. I often wonder if it was a baby on the road would they try to target and run over it too? Wombats get hit a lot too in winter time as they are on the move looking for girlfriends. They can do a bit of damage to your car. We came across one about 3 months ago that had been hit but was still alive... just. No vet for miles. Mr Rags made me get out of the car while he killed it.

Bridge, not only is it rude, but I don't get it. If you're not drinking, who cares? It means they have more to drink. It seems a fragile thing that a friendship (?) is based on whether you drink or not. Or, do you think they decided not to come as they didn't want to drink in front of you?

Reflecting on your situ Bridge, a long time ago I decided I wouldn't spend time with people who made me feel bad about myself. I try to do this but it really is hard. At times I thought (still think on some days) being a total recluse would work better for me. :H

Hi you lot from a cold & still part of Sthn West oz.

Mr g texted me - he is busy but good. i was also worried about him. I suppose we all worry about each other , cos reading up on each other's daily thingies is nice, for me anyways.

Lovely to read of you all going about your lives.

Missy ; get the venue booked early, the photographer booked early, & start watching ' Yes to the Dress" on You channel - it will give you some laughs.

In cilantro/coriander household, soon i will be leaving my husband of 16 yrs. it'll be tough, but i finally recognise the need for it.

Cooking wise: pikelets for the blokes classing our ewes, how very CWA.
Truffle portion purchased & used judiciously on steak & with mashed spuds.
it costs $2.50 per gram here, but i nearly wet my pants seeing the actual real thing. So amazing.

I hope to be back soon.

A few of us were wondering about you too.
Good to see you are OK.

                              Hey Ragsy my friend,
Yep I think I'll be ok soon, but there is much shit to plough thru, ya?
I simply need to reconnect here with the people who do know me enough in a distant-cy sort way to give unbiased advice. To give me some toughen up recipes that'll take me thru.
                              I digress.
                              I just need to focus.

Thanks Ragsy you're a beautiful person
