Have the bestest Birthday lunch, Nicey. Hope you don't mind but I've sent an email to all your guests asking that they fusk off by 5pm at the latest. I said it nicely and used a decorative font but ...
Glassy - the pesto should work out just fine providing you've got HEAPS of garlic and parmesan. Are you a veggo?
Chook world is ... erm ... interesting. No obvious barneys or punch-ups but the new little buggers escaped this morning and are happily cruising around the paddock in the rain. I hope like hell they'll make their way back to the penthouse at dusk because I've got snowflake's chance of catching them.
Cold, grey, wet ... perfect day for mashed spuds, sauteed bok choy and salmon.
Missy - you ok? Bit of insomnia happening?

Arvo all, Happy Birthday Niceybum, hope your lunch is going well!
Glassy I'm stealing your recipe and changing it to do the Lamp and my dinner. Let everyone else have snags...actually they'd be nice too with mash and gravy..decisions, decisions...
Yoga'd then had a cuppa with the girls, back to find the everyone still in bed although the Lamp was alternating between getting up to fiddle with the bathroom rescue...
Hope your chooks return Tawny...

Yes'm, I don't usually eat dairy or eggs either so I didn't have any parmesan, but I had some cheddar in the freezer that I keep for when my kids visit so I put some of that in.
I've just tried it and O M G - It may not be a very good pesto, but as far as a basily, rockety, garlicky, nutty, seedy, saucy dressing goes, it's fantastic!

Perfect - although I'll sub pumpkin for the sweet potato as that's what I've got on hand. Have kale in the garden and homemade pesto jars in the fridge. Thanks Glassy!
Boys playing Monopoly - I banned gaming today and feel a bit smug - well, I will until they start fighting...How old are your kids Glassy?

My kidlings (both boys) are 27 and 24. My eldest lives in Sydney and is getting married in November to a really lovely girl and my littl'un has just come home from living in London for a year and is studying engineering at UQ. They're both very good boys and I'm very blessed. :hThere's two ways of looking at the holes in your shoes

Gawd, I think I'm one of those awful mothers but they're just so present :H
They sound lovely. Will your Uni boy be living with you?
Now have dog at feet, cat either side and the locusts have pulled quilts off their beds onto the floor to continue play...

Happy birthday Nicey! Fabulous fifty, better than naughty forty apparently. i'm a 69 vintage myself, so getting used to "mid forties" is still difficult. I found my first grey hairs today at my right temple, & too many to pluck out without leaving a bald spot!
Today we have teenage nephew arriving. he's a strapping kid, lovely, really good bond with his uncle, they both are mad footy nuts. it'll be good to have husband diluted for the week, then i'm orf on Fri/Sat for another 2 weeks work where I was before.
having the boy around sorta does make me realise how not having kids has meant that we've missed out on something amazing. he was a turd as a kid but is growing into a great fella. But eat!!! Holy snapping duck fat potatoes, he can inhale a meal just by looking at it.
It makes me in awe of you guys who have boys, they must take your grocery bill up into the stratosphere. Need to go kill more sheep daily to get this kid fed!
Cooking wise, i am currently brewing a lamb & lentil curry.
The truffle portion I bought from Manjimup is awesome. I look at it all the time. I smell it frequently. I am obsessed with it. have used it sparingly with scrambled eggs, & mashed spud.....drool-worthy.
I didn't think I could get so excited by a nobbly black thing that costs $2.50 per gram....
During week I will try to come on as much as poss. I've got many arrangements to make, which needs moral support, I know you lot will give to me in spades.
Have a good day everyone.

Aspy how did parenting boot camp go?
Hello there Corri. Your food always sounds so amazing.
I think I'm going to organise an Undie get together at my place and ask you all to bring a plate. A big plate.:H What a feast for the senses that would be. More great food on this thread than I've seen anywhere actually.
I've had a cracking day here Undies. Was afraid it was going to be a drizzler as reported, but nope, a stunner. Little potter here. Little garden there. Even got into some arty/crafty stuff. Yes, Jones! If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?
