Ended up having a lekker day yesterday - went to a local food / clothing / stuff market called Root 44 (it's a pun on the route it is situated on - the R44).

Now it's back to reality with a hard thump, I'm afraid.

Thanks for sharing. I can particularly relate to this:

for the last month or so I've been drinking before & during work to curb my AW symptoms & then getting drunk again in the evening

I was exactly the same for the last few months before I resigned (before I was pushed).

Well impressed on your taper. Something I've tried and failed at many times.

well, I had got down to a couple of beers a night a few weeks back, then went off on one for 4-5 days & had to start all over again

I can have a couple drinks & not have to keep going, if I put my mind to it (not that I ever did), but I definitely have a tipping point - aka "the pint of no return"

being around this forum has been a huge help, so I'm planning on sticking around

Just had a bit of a google, thought it might be dramatic like a brain tumour or a disease that means having to have many, many weeks off work lying on a beach in Spain but it's more likely me sinuses.
