What's the best advice you have for struggling newbies?

I'm going to answer this question with the very first thing that popped into my head.

I made sobriety my first, middle and last priority. No fiddle faddling about, that was it no more alcohol for this body.
Once that's out of the equation we can concentrate on how we will get through our first few events sober. Christmas, birthdays, weddings,funerals. Crikey alcohol is all over these days. After we've done those first few, sighing with relief when we get home and know we're not going to wake up without a stinking hangover then it's on to the next phase. Enjoying ourselves at events sober.
What's to stop us getting up to dance or do karaoke (obviously not one for funerals) absolutely nothing.
As time goes by it becomes second nature, like putting your seat belt on in a car.

And it is soooooooooooooooo worth it.

There's probably lots more I can say but that was just off the top of my head at the moment.
Oh and nice to meet you.
