Awwh thank you Mr G and everyone I feel very touched by this.
Well 5 years has gone by amazingly quickly and so much has happened both negative and positive. I was made redundant, I studied for a university qualification, my mum died, I worked in the addiction and mental health field (from governance that is a big change!) I have had marital problems (now resolved thank goodness) I have taken a job in a finance company and now I am being offered a management position. The 360 degree turnaround from a seemingly dull existence to one that is full on has been incredible. Like I said tho, it is not always a bed of roses just because I am not drinking any more, BUT, it does mean that I can cope with whatever comes up and I know it wont send me into a tail spin.
As time goes on, drinking becomes less of a focus. And that is probably why I am not here so much, but in the early days it was my lifeline.
Thank you all for your congratulations, it IS doable and its the most worthwhile thing I have ever done.
