I didn't want to make a big fuss about it. Only mentioned it to emphatise and try and make D'Arsey not feel alone, kinda.

I work for a large corporate, so the process will take at least a year, and there'll be a redundancy package worth about 6 months' salary at the end of it. Bit I am worried - I'm a middle-aged white male. We're (not so jokingly) referred to as an endangered species in South Africa. There are other options - I'd be welcomed with open arms in places like Oz, on a special skills visa. That'll be a last resort, though.

Anyhoo... back to normal programming.

I used beef mince tonight. Does that make it cottage pie? With sweet pitato fritters and brocolli.

You?ll need to get your Scottish dander up and walk tall and proud when you go in there tomorrow. Don?t let ANYONE see that it?s got to you. The attitude is one of ?unbelievable how the system can fuck with you?? not one of ?I?m a fuck up?. If you think about it logically, you know you?ve done a good job and this is unwarranted. You said that they?ve been creating new ?managerial? posts and eliminating old ones since you?ve been there? it?s a shite way for them to behave quite frankly. I?m a realist though, and here?s what I reckon. Apply for the managerial post but immediately start looking for another position. Go to the staffing agencies, tell them you?re pissed off with the politics at your place? let them know you?re ?first in line? for the new position but that you don?t want it. Get in there now and strike while the iron is hot. You never know? you may be the person the Director wants for the new position but don?t rely on it. And, hell, maybe you don?t even want it, right? In any event, don?t let this get on top of you? you get on top of IT. OK? It will be fine and you will be fine? just don?t take any crap. Remember? walk tall and proud as if you?re the one in charge. Attitude can be a powerful thing and I know for a fact that you have it in you to strut your stuff? and now is the time for you to pool your resources and get that game of yours ON. Tipps? I?m sorry you?re looking at a possible change yourself. And Waggy, sounds like it's a rough trot for you too just now. ( Gawd, the corporate world is hard to navigate. Yer wan indoors has a lot of similar challenges and I give him pep talks to keep him upbeat. He?s managed to turn the situation around in the last year just because he?s taking control but he?s far from out of the woods and it?s horrid to have that weight on your shoulders all the time. I feel lucky that I?m not facing these issues myself (touch wood) as it is very hard on the ego. I understand what yous are all going through here? it?s tough.

Hey Oop to the rest of the troops. I?ve had a busy weekend but a good one. I made Cajun crab cakes for the BBQ on Saturday and they were a hit? it was darn labour intensive though. It rained like mad on Saturday but the hosts HOA has a swimming pool with a club house that has a big covered deck, a pool (poolstick pool) room with a competition size table, male and female restrooms with saunas, full kitchen, card room? yadda yadda? (Quite disgruntled with my own HOA as if I wasn?t already?) It was a good day out though? relaxing. Yesterday I got caught up on some stuff and had a mate over.

I have another Moan du Jour. The blasted racoons are having such a field day with my mangoes, I'm going to have to harvest them all prematurely. These little bleeders are climbing the tree, picking the fruit, taking it to my damn new deck and having a partaaaaaay that results in the deck having to be washed every morning to get rid of their debris and muddy paw prints, and mango pits and skins to be binned which is quite unsavoury to pick up. Gah!
