He already knows you're an alcoholic - I realise he must be very worried about his mum, but he surely can't be anything other than pleased if you're making a serious attempt to address your alcohol problem. And if you manage to get yourself off the drink that has to be good for the family finances and on top of that you'll be able to take better care of him and your children too.

      Army Thread Monday 12th August

Girly - I am sending you thoughts and prayers. Sorry I am so late to this thread. You have made the call, now it is up to you to follow through - which you can do! Only up from here. Do not think of the finances, do not think of his mum - think of your children and how wonderful it will be for them to have a sober mum. SOmething your husband didn't have. They need you - we all need you. You can do this. If he is angry, so be it. That is going to be part of the healing. That is what happens. It is hard to get sober, but you have hit the bottom and now that you have made the call, there is only one way to go - up! You have so many people who love and care about you. You need to start loving and caring about yourself. If you keep on the course you are on, you will die. That is not what you want. That is not what your family wants. Or anyone for that matter. It's time to look forward and embrace this new chapter. The detox will be hard, yes, but you will heal and your family will heal. We are here for you. I wish I could help you more. Alcohol is not worth shit. It never has been, it never will be. Poison. Please keep us updated.

                  Sounds like a plan.

Have you eaten something? It's important that you get some proper sustenance too.

                        Hewwo folksies!

Girly... I'm really sorry to see you're back in the ring with the Beast. ( And he's kicking your ass, just like he always does... and will continue to do... unless you get out of the ring and don't get back in there. :l:l:l

At this point in time you have got to be selfish and put your health and wellbeing first and foremost... before your husband, even before your children. If you don't get sober, you are going to be of no use to them whatsoever. It's a progressive disease, as you know luvvie, and however neglectful you think you are of your family now... it's only going to get worse. So don't worry about what your husband thinks or if he'll be angry... this is not about him, it's about you. Ultimately your husband and children will reap the rewards of you getting sober.

Your only priority right now is to get through the day and get yourself some help tomorrow... that is as far as you need to think. Don't think about the "what ifs"... you'll drive yourself bonkers with that... it just makes one more anxious than one already is with the booze.

I know the thought of rehab is scary but it's really not so bad once you're there. I went in for a month last December and I survived to tell the tale. You don't have to advertise it to all and sundry... you can choose who you want to tell. Same goes for whatever course of action you decide on, whether it's outpatient, detox... whatever. There is really not as much of a stigma attached to addiction any more. All these celebrities hitting the rehabs have made it quite acceptable.

I agree with what the others have said about taking a small drink when you get the shakes. Withdrawal can be extremely dangerous and you should be under medical supervision if you have symptoms such as the shakes.

You can do this Girly. You've done it before and you can do it again. :l

Nowt much to report this end. Just got in from the gym, having a bite of lunch, then have to go grocery shopping and hit Costco. I'm thinking about buying some herb plants (rosemary, basil etc.) and planting them in the back yard... will see if I come across anything on my travels.

I hope a'body is in fine fettle... maybe I'll catch someone around later...

Girly... Just get yourself through the evening luvvie. If you have to have a glass of wine, then do so... just be careful not to overdo it. Once you get yourself in there tomorrow and start the ball rolling, you will feel SO much better. Hanging around in limbo with the shakes and a huge hangover like today is soul destroying. :l

I think the school holidays are a major trigger for you, aren't they hon?
