    Dreams - The Corries

Those not familiar with the Corries they are two local guys (well local to me) one from Forres one from Glasgow who made the relative 'Big Time' singing, playing bog standard instruments.....

Last night I had the strangest dream,
    I've ever dreamed before,
I dreamt the World had all agreed,
to put an end to War...

    I dreamt I saw a Mighty room,
The room was filled with Men,
And the papers they were signing said,
    They would never fight again....

And when the papers were all signed,
    and a million copies made,
They all joined hands and bowed their heads,
    and grateful prayers were prayed....

The People in the streets below,
were all dancing round and round,
All Swords and Guns and Uniforms,
    were scattered on the ground.....

Last night I had the strangest dream,
    I ever dreamed before.....
I dreamt the World had all agreed
To put and end to War......

I would love for that dream to come true!

        Dear popeye,
I never got to see them.
I was camping at Glencoe in 1988 (on my honeymoon) when I had seen a poster saying they were appearing the next evening at the cornmarket at Oban.
We were heading for Edinburgh via the Pitlochry Highland Games.
We ended up tossing a coin.
        Heads Oban, tails, Pitlochry.
        The coin came down tails.
I still thought we should go to Oban, as they had never toured Australia.
And, you can go to a highland gathering anywhere anytime (sort of).
But the coin had been tossed. To Pitlochry we went.

Unfortunately Roy died of cancer in 1990, after a very long struggle with the diease.
Ronnie tried going solo, but I don't think it worked out.
I have some of their CDs.
And am on an emailing list for re-releases etc.

I know a lot of the songs they sang off by heart.
Liverpool Judies, Come o'er the stream Chalie, Dumbarton's Drums etc etc and of course, Flower of Scotland.
Not to mention the bricklayers song. DRAT! CRIVENS! I mentioned it!
Does this mean we have just started a two person MWO Corries Fan Club?

On such things rests the toss of a coin.

          Hi Rags.
          Nice story.
I'll be walking by Glencoe tomorrow and you can bet I will be smiling.
