Now before I start about the BBQ .I was hit by this unbelievable craving for vodka and lots of it. Fuck me, thought I, where the devil did that come from. So grabbed Mr JC and told him. One big fat cuddle and a lie down doing some deep breathing later it had passed.

    So onward to the event.
30 guests all told but not all at the same time (thank Gawd).
Food went down a treat, bread buns were lovely and fresh and doughy. Puddings disappeared before I could get me plate out.

Got some chicken curry, veggie chilli and a bit of pasta salad left.

Luckily 10 people not drinking. Some because they were driving and fair enough there 3 under 11. Although I wouldn't have put it past one of them to have a sneaky slurp out of a pint glass but he's a cheeky wee monster.

Only 2 rat arsed, but they're quite sweet with it. Damned good craic and the stragglers finally left at 10.30ish.

So just me, Sir Pee and the next door neighbour having a bit of a sentimental journey into the past (thank gawd I didn't drink or I'd have been crying in buckets).

They buggered off to bed about 12ish and I had a quiet hour.........a really good day.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Myself and two friends went to the Dalkey lobster festival yesterday. There was street music markets food demos etc. Great atmosphere and we had a bit ti eat at the Queens bar/restaurant. The Dubs will jnow the olace i'm talking about. There was a mock ready steady cook compared by Pat Kenny and contestants were louie Copeland Lisa Fitzpatrick and Gerald Keane can't remember the 4th but it looked fun. Dalkey is a very upmarket wee village on the southside of Dublin with lots of famous neighbours around. Went in to the city to shop on Friday and I had Beshoffs fish and chips delicious and Saturday went to Dun Laoghaire. Weather has been lovely apart heavy rain on Friday. Glad to hear you barbeque went well Jc. Its amazing how cravings can hit at any time no mater how long we are sober. I heard at at AA awhile back who is about 18 yrs sober saying she struggled with her sobriety one weekend and almost caved in with the situation she was in and it took a lot not to. Lucky she didn't. Tipps well done on 4 years sober that's some acomplisment.:l

Blimey Jackie...it's frightening that you could still be getting cravings after more than 4 years. Well done on not giving in to them. :goodjob: Lucky Mr JC was around.

Yo there Foxy, :goodjob: on your 8 days.

Reccy, it was just so weird. At first I didn't recognise what it was. But I got over it, it only took half an hour.

I am not going to over analyse or I'll tie myself in knots...............again.

Is it like you said to Reccie JC ? The adrenalin rush of excitement with the BBQ ?
The closest I got to that was when I met you, MsA & Molls for the first time. I got home and was buzzed - I think I mentioned it - and a longing for WINE to calm down!!!
I re-grouped and thought - 'think it through to the end ' - I did - and didn't like the outcome I saw ! So had a bar of chocolate instead

                  Yo Satzuma,

Think you've got it spot on. Got a bit nervous about nobody turning up.
Yep always play the video to the end.

Once it got going I was fine.

Wow Jackie, I have heard other long-term AFers say suddenly they get hit by an urge for a particular drink. Almost always associated with stress, and it'll be completely out of the blue. Old brain wiring I'd guess.
I used the Sinclair Method to beat my alcoholic drinking.

Drank within safe limits for almost 2 years
