From what I've read they need the loo every hour or two in the early stages. I can't take her out into the garden and watch her every time she needs to go. It's only for the first couple of months until she learns some bladder control. One of my books on Border collies recommended the litter tray approach, so that's what I'm gonna do.

The dogs sound like having a baby.

Time for me to part company with the desk and head to the gym. Bye for now.

Afternoon all back from aqua aerobics. Was a good class and feeling better for going. Just have an egg mayo sambo for lunch with a few low fat crisps. Off to friggin Tesco later for cat food and a few other items. Yeah Reccie the dog does sound hard work in the early stages but worth it in the end. I hope she and Poppy bond well.

Defo like a baby only harder work.

Awww Reccy, one look in those puppy dog's eyes and you'll be smitten. Nothing will be too much work.

                        Yo Satz.

                          Army Thread Tuesday 27th August

Hi everyone! No was up at stupid o'clock this morning so no gym for me today.

The rule of thumb for puppies and potty breaks is that they should go out right after:

                          Eating
                          Playing
                          Waking
                          10-15 minutes after drinking water

You'll do yourself a favor by restricting her water. Not that you don't let her drink, but you only let her drink when you have time to take her out and let her pee soon after. If you do this, then also put a little water in her food at mealtimes.

Of course, if you simply can't do that then there is certainly nothing wrong with using puppy pads and such.
Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.

I'm still intrigued by the doggie litter box concept. Border collies aren't exactly small animals. How big is this litter box? Especially if it's for a few months. Off to Google I go. I know you can train cats to use a human toilet (with the feline equivalent of Sir Pee's special bog seat fitted). But never in my life have I heard of this.

                                Is she already spayed, Reccie?

Any progress on choosing a name? There's a girl who works with me whose name is Sarah. She reminds me of a border collie :H Intelligent, loyal, hardworking, eager to please, thrives on praise, always up for a challenge. She would kill me if she knew I had drawn that comparison :new:

Leftover lamb stew for dinner. Probably going to taste even better tonight.

You' ll need to explain the various nicknames to the folks as well, Satzy. Very often they don't correspond to the usernames.
                                I'll do whatever it takes
