Ring a ding ding. Get your Undies on for Spring....

    by my boss

OK, so to clarify what’s happening with my leave situation, this is how it should work. We each have a buddy. So when we want leave, we talk to our buddy, work out between ourselves when we can cover for each other and then put our leave in the leave planner and put in a request to our manager.

But my “buddy” has a habit of arranging his leave without telling me. So he didn’t tell me, or anyone else, he wanted leave in January, and didn’t ask for approval, but he put it in the leave planner with a note saying “pending approval”.

So while I was off work and couldn’t access the planner, I emailed work (copying him into my request) requesting time to go on the little red boat and not knowing he also wanted time off because he hadn’t told anyone.

But because he’s already put his in the leave planner and he's a breeder I appear to be fusked.

I'd be having a word to your supervisor about the equitable allocation of leave.

The irony in all this is that this sort of fusking is my area of expertise, and I'm well equipped to take it to any industrial tribunal or court required.

But while I'm arguing my rights, my little red boat will be sailing down the Lemaire channel without me.

Anyway, no need to worry yet! I have a plan for tomorrow and all may yet be resolved!!

It's my supervisor who's doing the inequitable allocationing.

Not that we like to do that kind of thing, but it could be argued that it shouldn't be going on in your department for very obvious reasons, if I've guessed your line of work correctly!!!

Bird, that video is very sweet and made me feel all throbby too!!

Glassy, it sounds like you have a very uncooperative colleague there. While I'm sympathetic to people fulfilling their family responsibilities it sounds like he has had the opportunity to do that in over years and there should be a little give and take when it comes to "once in a lifetime" type opportunities.

If you dont have any luck tomorrow, I suggest we build a doll i his image and stick pins in it :-)

Thanks sweets! Yep, I work in HR and pretty much look after complaints, disciplines etc.

I should mention BTW that this fellow is actually very nice, but I think he realises he's stuffed up by forgetting to ask me. So he's being a bit disingenuous by supporting my leave "in principle" , but not confirming he'll actually be at work to cover for me.

EDIT: and I think my supervisors know that

I'm guessing that while I'm away he'll have a "family emergency" and have to take the time off he wanted in the first place.

I have to vote tomorrow as we'll be in Dubbo at the weekend. I've downloaded the Senate nominees, and am about to number them 1 to 110 but not in numeric order

My monk SMS 'd me and is going to phone me shortly. Haven't spoken to him for months..

"Ah, there's the problem, yes I can fix that. Just fill my palms with gold bullion and my hands will then make the pain go away..."

                            Will be back tomorrow.
Got to watch MKR with Kev and Tony.
