Meet Samantha Goudie:
Vodka_Samm, as she called herself on Twitter, got epically trashed while tailgating before the Iowa-Northern Illinois game over Labor Day weekend. About an hour before kickoff, she rushed the field was promptly arrested by UI cops, who gave her a breathalyzer. She blew a .341. Drunken hooliganism and big college football isn't exactly anything to write home about, and this probably wouldn't have even been a noteworthy arrest had it not been for what she did after. She was taken to Iowa City lockup, and then started Tweeting from jail. She had as many as 22,000 followers at one point and took on almost folk-hero status. You can read a good number of the Tweets here:

I hope Ms. Goudie figures out that she's not headed in a good direction. First of all, for 22, she's starting to look a little rough. Second of all, if she makes it out of college, she's not going to be able to be employable in any enterprise that doesn't have "Gone Wild" in the name of it. I've ended up in the ER with higher BAC's, but I'm a much larger man and it took me several decades to get to that point - about as long as Ms. Goudie's been alive. It is truly remarkable that such a young person of her size could get to .314. It's easy to sit back and be sanctimonious, but if she were my kid, the deal I'd make with her is you can continue college after rehab.
And colleges and universities need to put social media policies in place in their Code of Student Conduct because right now, she's probably the most public figure at the University of Iowa and that's not a good thing for the UI.
