    Yellow Eyes?

For a while I've noticed that the white part of my eyes (sclera) has yellowy blobs on the part between my Iris and my nose (if you know what I mean). Since cutting right down on alcohol I've not noticed the slighest difference and wondered if I have to abstain completely in order to have bright white eyes...

Then yesterday, I noticed a friend of mine, who I know is a very light drinker, has the same I've googled sclera and found that it does yellow with age as well as with liver damage.

Anyone else know anything about it ?

peebles, I know nothing about it, but Perhaps you see your eye doctor. Have you had blood work recently to check your liver? Call both your Doctors and check it out.

      Yellow Eyes?

      Hi Simey, thanks for replying.
In the UK things aren't quite the same as the US, if I went to my GP with anything less than both legs severed off, bleeding from my eyes or with my heart in a carrier bag he'd think I was wasting his time, plus, if you even mention "drink too much" you're never going to get Life Assurance again, plus they are talking about letting pretty much anyone get access to your records here, which scares me.

Don't worry, I've seen proper jaundice before and I'm sure it's not that, I'm feeling absolutely fine, I think it's just a sign of ageing ...

      lots of love

You are not ageing.!!! And screw that medical system! I thought ours was crappy. Just keep and "eye" on it; pun or no pun intended'

            Yellow Eyes?

Seems like I have read that this could have something to do with exposure to UV rays (sunlight). But I would have it checked out by an Opthamologist, just to be on the safe side.:specs: My sister in law (53) suffers from this condition and must be very careful. It may be that you just didn't notice it until the rest of your eyes have become so white & pretty. :bigwink: Congrats on your progress!

            Hugs, :l

this could be one of two things
first you could have high cholestral
or the warning signs of liver failure

Have a cholesterol check and a liver function test.
you could have slight jaundice which is completely
curable, but you would have to lay off drink and fatty
foods for a while.I know what gps are like you could
make an appointment with the practice nurse for these
                tests,or even a local pharmacy.
Dont be put off, your health is important.
                good luck x

Pebbles, laughing about your cross eyes jibe.

A suggestion... you could go to your local pharmacy and ask the pharmicist if it's worth getting checked out by a doc and what the possible causes are.

I know what you're talking about with those jelly type blobs on the inner white bits, but have never known the cause. I guess I associated it with aging.

                  Doo

PS Ooops, just saw that Paula posted exactly the same suggestion.
