    Locations ... anyone ...????

I live in a farm house style colonial house on a rural road in the country side of Virginia. About 65 miles west of Washington DC.the 65 miles will take you 3 hours to drive it, if your lucky. I stay here mainly, I have the Shenadoah national forrest meeting up with our back yard. 5 houses in our sub division everyone has about 2-3 acres that is wooded so we get our privacy. I sit on a knoll facing west and a mountain view with some of the most beautiful sunsets. You would know the house it screams me. Dark grey, red shutters white wrap around porch . Do you feel like you can see it? I hope so, I've been here 12 years don't anticipate going anywhere anytime soon. It is a little big for 2 people.but it's home.
    Smiles
    Mary

Yes, we have had this topic before but never with so much elaboration, I love it!

I live in the second largest city in Indiana, Fort Wayne. It is in the Midwest. I live within 4 hours drive of Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Detroit, Louisville and others.

I love it here because it's not the big city yet I can go over to many, on almost any weekend.

I live in the "suburbs" I look out my window and see other houses. Not a great view but we have a nice big yard and it's a great place to raise the kids. I know all my neighbors and live in a wonderful school district.

Now someone should start a get to know you thread where we can talk about our husbands/wives, children, occupation and other fun stuff to know about each other.

Located in oneof the New England states. I live in a colonial farm house with pool on 1+ acres with view of mountain ridge. Am centrally located from everything with a good school sytem & good neighbors. We built our home 11 yrs ago & still have alot more to do to it in terms of landscaping. So much trial & error.

I live in Washington State, USA. I live on 10 acres overlooking a meadow and a river which has salmon and trout running through it. I watch bald eagles every day flying up and down the river. Unfortunately, it's the wettest part of the USA so I have a studio apt. in Victoria, B.C. - a ferry ride away and spend lots of time there with my city girls.

Wow, aren't we lucky to live in such glorious places ? Macks, I'm particularly jealous, love the Lake District.

Currently living in 2 bed mid terraced cottage, little garden but right on the edge of National Trust woods in leafy Surrey, UK.

About to move to wing of "substantial Victorian House" Estate Agents speak, with third of acre of mature garden, also in the woods, I can't wait. Although we're not really rural, we have plenty of deer, rabbits, pheasants and wild birds in the garden and woods, so it feels lovely and springlike at the moment.

Tawny this is a lovely thread and so many people live in really beautiful areas.

I live in an equestrian village, all home sites are 1 acre +, outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico - yes it is in the USA! We are in a cool spot, although I am not a shopper per se, we are only 5 to 10 minutes to some incredibly large metro area restaurants and shopping malls.

We live towards the top of a dead end, dirt road. Our house is adobe and framed stucco. It is one of those huge, older, drafty homes with herringbone patterned brick floors in the main rooms and a country kitchen. We have an expansive view that takes in mountains, bosque, the Rio Grande (means big river, which is sort of a joke with the draughts) the hot air balloon field and to the far right, the city lights and valleys of Albuquerque. Our acreage is mostly sandy areas. We have Evergreens, Russian Olive trees, Cottonwoods, and an assorted variety of wild flowers, including century plants, Agave, Sagebrush and Spanish Broom. There's a scrub brush bush / condo for the quail families, a resident squirrel dugout by our pool area and bunnies everywhere. Road runners come to our patio waiting for us to put out meat, not bread.

My husband and I took a long walk early evening yesterday near my office which is about 5 minutes from the house. We saw tiny calves nursing, Guinnea (sp?) hens, horses, llamas, pheasant, ducks flying in and out of the ditch road water system in place for the farms, saw two Sandhill cranes. (talk about graceful looking birds.) Felt really lovely walking in that tree lined area that now have tons of blossoming apple trees. Spring is ALMOST here!!

With all that said, I love this area but I still miss the sound of the ocean and the warmth and humidity of the Caribbean!

I live in a lovely residential town in California, USA. The part of the state I live in is above San Francisco, where you can still gaze at dairy cows and vineyards while you are stuck in traffic.

I am lucky enough to live and work in a beautiful Ski Resort in the North Eastern United States. The snow is winding down, but the summer here are as magical as the winters.

I have lived in Sydney, Australia and Tokyo, Japan, among some pretty amazing places in the states such as Dallas, San Francisco & Los Angeles. Spend a lot of time in Mexico, where I plan to retire.

I live in central NJ, HUnterdon county. Jersey is not all just highway & Newark, armpits, & the Sopranos. Hunterdon Cty is rural and very nice. I live on 3.5 wooded acres with little stream in the back. Fields, skyline, and 1 giant old oak is the view in the front. I love it. Deer are prolific here & hang out. My woods has probably about 2 families, 10-12 deer. They look both ways before they cross the street. I am serious. We have squirrels, cardinals, bluejay..typical Northeastern flora & fauna. I love to plant flowers. We gave up gardens due to the deer & groundhogs, so I do herbs & tomatoes on the deck. We have been here over 20 years. House was new then, classic colonial.

Raised the kids in this house. . I hope we can stay here through the summer. With us both unemployed at the moment, we shall see. I need to think positive.

I'm in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon Coast). Not far from the ocean, up the River. Our house is about a 3 min walk from the river, so it's great for somoene like me ...who's a kaying fanatic.
We have walnut, almond, apple, & a fig tree in our yard, as well as a few evergreens, Port Orford cedar, & spruce. Out back there's an open field where the deer & wild turkeys like to hang out. Hubby saw a wild turkey chase a cougar out there last year! Quite a site! Guess she had babies...
The Rhodedendrons are just starting to bloom in our yard, they're more like trees, than plants...very pretty!
On any given day I see Great Blue Heron, Osprey, Mallards, Canadian Honkers(just saw a family yesterday w/ 6 gosslings on the river), River otters, Seals, Merganzers, silver foxes, Egrets, lots of deer & wild turkeys...they come right up on the deck & steal my flowers!
Once in a while we see bear, I saw one driving home from work not too long ago.
They say there's Big Foot around here too, but I haven't seen em ...yet!
The only thing worth stealing is a kiss...:flower: zwink:
