Hey all. Barbs you sound good, and we all know you are a nice person. You should have let the security guard slam him though. Cool about the puppies and the egg. I always wondered about raising birds, I never have seen any born domestically. I agree we need to get a little hello from Morrison, tex, more2 and any others who are slacking off. I kow everyone is busy, I am too. Sometimes it is hard to get to the computer to put in my 2 cents worth.

Hi all,
We didnt go camping. It was still too hot and we go in a tent. The COLD FRONT only has it down to 85 and 65. Still better than 100. Its way too hot to camp here in summer unless you have an RV or cabin.Will try again this weekend. Nibs, I have had some very mean roosters but we have a nice one now with 4 hens. They are pets. The kids carry them around.Poor rooster got attacked by a dog a few weeks ago and I had to hand feed him. His favorite was spaghetti-os. Rooster is a different breed than the hens and he is much smaller. Its funny to watch him try to mount them and he usually cant hop up there, but does get lucky every once in a while. Bootsie ,loved your story about the guy in the grocery. Bear, glad you found your ring.Luv,those pups sound cute.Love to everyone else...bird

Luv, forgot to tell you, last spring my finches layed eggs. One of them hatched. They took care of the baby. It jumped out of the nest when it got big enough and I never could get it to stay in there after that. It could not fly yet and slept on the floor and I put seed and water down but it died. You might want to see how to take care of it before they hatch. Bird

oh bird. that is a sad story about the finch. i really feel sad about that. well, i'm a sucker for animals anyday of the week. and lunchlady, i too had so many chickens on the ranch crazy and i had my favorite rooster. well, we had to slaughter a bunch of them because there were too many. god he was beautiful though. a cross between reg rooster, big one and a bantee. he was red, blue, green. he'd get beat up by the big guys and i'd always take care of him. heck even remember sleepin in the barn with him a few times so he wouldn't be lonely. funny. the girlies however caught a racoon yesterday and well it didn't survive the welcome party. apparently, 3 dogs was too much for it. he didn't have wounds so i honestly think the furry creatures gave the poor guy a heart attack. they were very sad to part with their new toy--- dead racoon. i named him rocky and buried him. we had a little ceremony with incense which the dogs hated. lol today was first day back in the gym. wow, how did i gain weight? lol not fair. i need to now drop 7 lbs. oy veh. must have been that fun cruise.
luv i'm again sorry about your sister. i have one of those too and well, when my sister passed away i was of course the care giver for the last year of her life, made all the arrangements for her care, was with her and then when she passed. well i was the one at the morgue. my sister, the grandstander. well she wanted to come in for the funeral and take the stage. so, i said great you all come. i'm going to be taking a cruise so won't be there for the glory. i was there for her life. sure enough sis swooped in and read off a poem and was all about please cry for me as i'm so sad. funny, but where exactly were you for her life>>>>> odd, you didn't seem to be around. didn't contribute a dime or care. in fact, you didn't even come to dad's funeral. humm. guess we always have to have one in the family. ah, well, it is what makes it all rich. their loss. i always think well there will be alot to answer for but i'm in good graces. so, luv you are doing what you can and that is all you can do. the weaknesses of others is what they have to tackle in this lifetime. so you don't need to take them on.
and, bear i found it. twoguysgrilling.com or something like that. look up on the web. they have so many recipes for grilling i can't wait to try them. oh my gawd! i was so excited.
and lastly, bird i know it will cool down. it now has in so cal. tomorrow i had better jump in the ocean on the surfboard as those days are about to go away. we are going to take 2 weeks though sometime before year end and go to hawaii. and yep, surf and go to this retreat place and get ourselves all cleansed. nice nice. okay, off to make dinner. i made my special potatoe salad. now for the rest. take care all

Bird, sad story about the little bird. I am new at raising birds, but they have nice little boxes, they can't fall out of. BUT, should they need anything, I knew how to hand feed them. I hand fed my quaker parrots. It is what makes them tame. You are supposed to remove them from the nest at 2 weeks old and hand feed them. All my birds come to me. EXCEPT the breeders...they are mean! Will bite the crap out of me! HA HA
Bootsie, I think I have heard of the grilling guys...I am gonna look that up, maybe we will try one out. My fella loves to grill out and I love to eat it...HA HA

Today I have 5 months AF. WooHoo!!! I am leaving for Germany next Monday and I hope I can hold up on the trip. It would be a major accomplilshment fo me.

Hey Luv, what kind of birds fo you raise now. I have a wonderful African Greay parrot and a Nanday Conure. Both were raised in the US, I would never but an imported bird as the methods used to smuggle them into the country are horrible Things like stuffing them into PVC pipe to conceal them. Apparently only about one in ten makes it here.
My Grey (Guinevere the Grey) says hello every time anyone comes in the door. When Kermit(the conure) squawks she says "shut up Kermit!". She also tells the dog to "shut up" whenever she decides that Annie is being too noisy. Greys are amazingly intelligent animals. And I have no idea where she learned to say "shut up".
It's day 3 AF for me, and seems to be going well so far.

Welcome! I raise quakers and lovebirds, but I have a cockatoo also. She is my baby. She thinks she is a dog! walks around the house with my Shit zu...it is hysterical. I only deal with breeders in the US. I have some wonderful friends. My next bird is going to be a Macaw. My cockatoo does not talk YET as she is only 19 weeks old.
BEAR...congrats on 5 months...way to go. I know you will do well on your trip. I feel much better since upping my topa. Got a nasty email from my sister today. I just deleted it and now have blocked her. I typically have to have the last word, but she isn't worth my time.

Retreat sounds good and just what you need. A get away! I planned a get away today too. Just a day out for me and my daughter. We don't get many lately and we need one. I am a BIG planner! Have already bought the majority of her Christmas. So, I book a shopping trip (it is a bus that goes to Charleston for the day to the market and then the outlets and back to Columbia). Just she and I, we will eat down in the market and just enjoy the day and get some Christmas gifts. So, go More2...enjoy. I missed you. Next tme post even when you think you shouldn't...you KNOW we ALL have slipped! We aren't here to judge.

Hello everybody !
What a blurr of a day for sure !!! Have just stopped actually.. After work, hubby and I headed into town to shop for clothes.. We have our cousins' daughters wedding this weekend in town, and hubby has nothing to wear.... I'm sooo gosh darn tuckered, but he will look really smaltszy !
It is really nice to have you along iowegian !!! Sounds like you are doing so awesome !!! Keep up the good work my friend !

Siblings.....as my sister and I cared for our mother as she died (literally)our brothers took their families on holidays out of the country, together. My youngest brother turned up for her funeral and to collect his money. I speak to that sister very rarely now and haven't seen her in 5 years. She took advantage of our mother emotionally and financially and to this day sees nothing wrong with what she did. Like you Luv, I moved mountains for my mother when she was ill. She lived in another province and the kids and i travelled a lot. She was ill for 5 years. My sister took credit for all of her care, what a wonderful daughter she was! The rest of the family never even knew I was there. During the last four months of her life I travelled back and forth seven times.

Sometimes I think that we, as addicts, see and feel "our pain" more accutely, harder, more forcefully. The knife that pierces our heart is dull.

Luv, your sisters behavior is a mystery and wounds your soul. Take some of your Mamas love and heal that wound, this is important.
