It has been raining since I got here, but itis still beautiful. I have been enjoying the food, and almost all places I have gone have AF beer. I am going to make it through this sober Woo Hoo. I miss you all.

Hi all,
Hey I'm 47 too Bootsie and its my birthday. I had to work so didnt get to do anything fun. Hey Nibs I'm gonna be a mentor too. Tomorrow is my 1st day and I'm a bit scared. I got a second grade boy and my kids say he's mean as hell...hey I used to hunt when I was a kid. I dont do it anymore. I've tried to become a vegetarian before but I cant go too long without a burger. Its like trying to quit drinking,well not that bad but..congrats on day 9 Cindi, bet you are feeling good. The "hunting for fun" thing.

I grew up in a hunting family. Military family.

I hate the idea of hunting for "fun." What is fun about killing something. Anything? I don't "get it."

However, on my property we have lots of deer. I have to shoo the hunters away. (I mean it, literally.)

But, one time a guy was there and he looked desperate. I talked to him a bit and realized that shooting that doe meant feeding his family. I said, "okay" take one but make sure you don't shoot near the house or the trailer (okay, we have a trailer on the property that houses my son and family, we are rednecks after all!!). He was so grateful. That was enough meat to feed his family for the winter.

I know you vegetarians can't relate, but this was someone who couldn't go to the store to buy beans and rice and veges. That doe meant so much to him and his kids.

I will let someone like that hunt. For him it wasn't "fun" it was food.

Okay. Nuff said. He walked away with food for his kids. I hated it but I couldn't say no. I love deer but I love children even more.

Canadian Geese.

We have a little pond at the foot of our "mountain" in Alabama. Every year a pair of mated geese roost there. There is a little "island" out in the middle of the pond. The mama sits on the nest and papa stands there in stalwart duty for days while she roosts on those eggs. It is so touching. They are both so devoted to hatching those eggs.

I will send a picture to you this spring.

birdie. happy bday girl. so happy for you. wow, and a mean 2nd grader as a bday present. wow, you are one lucky girl. nice nice. well, i'm so happy to have ol cindi on our little thread. and bear i know you are going to have so much fun in munich. it is just so beautiful there. luv make sure you get some rest. and hunting for food makes perfect sense to me. perfect. so back to my lawyering stuff. now to chronical everything phew. such work. thank you for getting out the guns. i do however think it is perfectly okay to hunt fashion models in any season. perfectly okay. in fact i don't think you need a license. call it "open season". and the taller the better. i'd like to see them on one of those arcade games where you get to just line em up and shoot. i'd get out my 12 gauge and have a little tickle. wonder how fast they can run. this comedian said something on saturday's show. he said you ever just want to just i don't know slap someone really hard? i thought about it. and i uh said uh yep. then laughed til i snorted. nibs you are a hoot girlie. okay back to my homework. my girlie attorney said to call her back but i had to just not say anything. well where is the fun in that?/ i say. ahahahahahaha

And many, many more to come!!! I wonder how/why a 7 or 8 year old can be mean, poor little guy obviously needs something...love probably. Probably why you were chosen Bird.

For those interested....two days on the decreased Topamax dose and I am feeling much better. Very interesting how side effects can sneak up on you.

Cindi~ I love children more as well. Would love to see your geese. You live in the mountains of Alabama? How wonderful...mountains..deer....

The geese haven't been waving good-bye to us yet but the squirrels are nesting. I watched one little guy trying to take an old rag rug apart this morning, it was on my deck, and all he could get was thread. So Sam took some of it apart for him/her and left it with a jar of peanuts for the winter stash. I am always amazed how they can survive -30C.

That is a sweet sorry Magic about the little squirrel. I have tons of squirrels at my house. Mama loves to sit on the porch swing and watch them. I fill my bird feeders for the wild birds all the time, but I think the squirrels eat more than the birds.
Late work tonight, we are putting in a new computer software program so I will work late to make sure all goes well. UH, I hate working late. especially now since I can work from home, I am never there late anymore. I just come home and work instead.
Bird, I think your little fella just needs some TLC and all will be fine. How mean can ya be that little? You will be just what he needs!

Magic, I hope titrating down on the topa helps. I am so torn. I have side effects from the 50 mg but am doing so well right now I don't want to "rock the boat." sigh Did you start taking the topa to keep the cravings away? Mags started that recently, too.

I am on Topa too. 200 mg a day. My side effects have been minimal so I am LUCKY, but when i tried to come off, the cravings came back. So, jumped right back on. The side effects are FAR LESS than a hangover everyday.

What lucky dogs you have !!! our labs sleep downstairs in the livingroom on a hug bed I pull out for them complete with their own pillows.. Although at camp things are a bit different, they have the couch...they Love that !!
Oh and also Bird, that lil' fella that you are mentoring, I'd be willing to bet that nobody that mattered squat to him " thought he was worth it " He is a frightened little boy ready to lash out to "take care of himself as nobody else did in the past " It is not too late for him to be reached and it sounds like you are the lady for the job... You may or may not know it, but you will be "changing" this little boy for the REST of his life.. He is very lucky and what a beautiful thing you are doing... Kudos to you.. I will be filled in more about what mine will intale but Tyler is in grade 9 and it will be quite casual from what I can gather..out to lunch together, check on his grades etc... I'll be anxious to see though..

Hi all,
A quick note before the kids bus gets home. Nibs, loved the birthday post. Went up to the school today to see that little boy. He said he was 7 and was very shy. I read him a couple of books and then we started looking at a puzzle book with some optical illusions. He really liked that. Next week they want me to help him with his spelling. It was easy and I hope he liked me....hey we have alot of squirrels in the yard too. I put out bird seed and squirrel food and chicken food. Sometimes a rabbit comes and eats, Armadillos get in the yard and they arent afraid of us. A fox was hanging out for awhile but he left.Talk to ya later. I hear the bus. love bird

Happy Birthday Bird! LUV, you wear me out just "hearing" about all you do! Nibs, I hunted all my life, don't do it anymore, but we did eat what we killed...I've hunted deer, geese, duck, quail, elk and moose, and turkeys....(no, not my ex-hubby's, but that was tempting...lol..)....my Dad took me hunting with my Uncle since I was lil, so I can out shoot about any guy I know/knew...not a good thing as they usually feel less macho....DB, good to see you here, you help us too...Boots, go get 'em, I have no doubt you can kickass, and I have been to the gym everyday so far this week, going today too, I've started feeling a bit mored toned, and I'm visualizing those extra wine lbs. coming off...Ya know, it IS motivation when you are on the treadmill and you know that every 100 calories are about a reg. size glass of wine...white anyway...lol...so I'm using that to say at night....WHOA....that was alot of sweat I worked off, to have just sipped it back down! Gotta use all the tools I can muster! I'm so happy Bear got to Munich, and you are doing sooo well, I know you are having a blast, and I'm sure the food is awesome! Take pics! Ok, I'm going to try to call More2 again, I think I've about got my cell worked out, Alltel has heard every cuss word I know, I think....lol....anyway, hope everyone's Hump Day as Nibs said, is going well....ok, off to the grocery and then the gym...Boots, btw, I have some buffalo steak, some buffalo burgers, and some natural pork tenderloin, and some sun-dried tomato and kalamata olive baked chicken breasts leftover, just holler...lol...gotta catch Private Practice tonight, and Dirty, Sexy Money, so I'll be heating up again...I'm OD'ing on season premieres instead of wine....my eyeballs are spinning....have to say tho, Boston Legal was hysterical last night, gotta love it! Oh, and Wayne Newton, he's had so much plastic surgery, that his asshole must be up to his shoulder blades, he can't dance he's so stiff....(no pun intended...).....that was Dancing with the Stars...if ya'll need any other "recaps/cliff notes", just let me know....I probably saw it!

TIT, I have always been a busy person. I am HAPPY that way. When I SLOW down I get depressed. REALLY depressed....staying busy keeps me sane and sobber!

I starting putting out all my Halloween decoration. I am BIG on holidays. Decorate the yard, the house, etc...all tasteful decorations, not tacky plastic crap. I love all the holidays. Brit is having a big party for Halloween. We have one every year, but this year, I said she could invite boys...OMG, what was I thinking????
