Geez more2, 18 what a difficult age. My girls are still 11 and 9 but I can imagine. Oh Nibs 09 huh??Kentucky is not that far I think. Do not want to mess up your anniversary though. I have an 18 year old son. He knows about condoms, HIV, herpes, etc.
It is taught in school here and I have always kept these discussions open.

I have found many a condom package in his room, only to find the condom not far away blown up and tied like a balloon.

I also have a 17 year old daughter.

You don't say how old his girlfriend is. While I understand your desire for them to remain celibate I would make sure they were equiped with reliable birth control and the knowlege to use it. I doubt that your disappointment is going to stop them "in the heat of the moment".

I like Dx's suggestion to take them to a newborn clinic, school for unwed mothers or even a hospital maternity ward.

Having sex at 18 isn't the end of the world. Having unprotected sex could be.

Good luck! Teenagers are fun! You gotta love 'em.....

My friends son was beaten yesterday. He was jumped by 6 guys, they fractured his face in multiple areas. His eyes are swollen shut. He is in BAD shapre, just makes me sick!!!! what the hell is wrong with people?

More2, magic is right about the being knowledgeable and prepared because if they have had sex, they more than likely will have sex again. Any person who is sexually active needs to know it is his or her responsibility to ensure protection no matter what. With the possibility of contracting a life altering (ending) disease there can be no other choice. There can be no party without the balloons.

I think you really handled this well, but this is not the end of the story. I am not a proponent of premarital or promiscuous sex, but I have been there, and I have been though this with three kids. I have also had the experience of a child having a child. A child having a child causes hardship for the child (and for the parent). My thoughts are with you.

Luv, I bet there was a reason for the beating that no one really knows. If this were my child I would be spending a lot of time with him at the Karate school and maybe at the shooting range. I guarantee you if he can stand up for himself they will not come back. They felt courage in the numbers and would not likely be so aggressive if they were alone. I think they need their asses kicked.

I put my daughter on BC pills this summer. My husband doesn't even know because he'd freak out. I'm hoping she's using condoms as well. She's 18.

More2, I know exactly what you are going through because our oldest son is 18 and also has a girlfriend... A few weeks ago, hubby and I bought him condoms and I simply gave them to him saying, " I don't care what you do with these. You can even just make them all into water balloons if you like.. Put them away somewhere"... We always keep the lines of communication open with our boys in hopes they feel they can come to us with anything... It can be a really tough time in their lives.. Our school has an excellent sex education class that our boys have taken, so that helps also...

Well, we are in for a really big snow/freezing rain storm tomorrow.. We'll bunk with the boys safe and sound.

Hi all,
We have been sick a little. Well I didnt go to work yesterday cuz my oldest was not feeling well and today I dont feel that great but it was a beautiful day. Would have been good camping if all not sick. Finally got my computer out of the shop and he said he couldnt fix it but it seems alot better to me. Told me he took 3 viruses off it and didnt charge me anything. Luv that was terrible about that boy. Sounds like gang stuff, maybe some gang guys initiation or something. When I lived in lauderdale there was a gang and their initiation was they had to beat someone up badly but not kill them. They would just pick kids at random. Its hard to think about people sitting around thinking that stuff up.geez...Nibs family day sounds great. We have a card table we set up sometimes and play board games or cards. Bird, I'm sorry to hear that you guys aren't feeling well... Knock on wood we have be lucky so far not to have any flu in the house... Our oldest son had a bit of a cold is all.
Well, no storm yet but we are suppose to expect it to hit later on this morning.. I'll clear the horses out of the barn to do all my chores before they have to come back in on a count of the storm. So, I hear hubby stirring his coffee ... music to my ears. Have a great day everybody...
