Its only 10am and I've caved already

I am going to work on the other side of the room so that I'm not staring at the computer screen all day ........

ok - here's a questionn for you hippy and homeopathic types.

I have the type of skin that all sorts of biting and flying insects are instantly attracted to. In NZ there are a couple of locally skin care ranges that have something in them that has a vaguely insect repellant effect. I cant find anything similar here, but in desperation I just bought a face cream that has ti-tree in it. Do you reckon that will work?? The flies hanging around my face are driving me nutso!! (think Pig Pen in Charlie Brown comics :H)

I used buy the Tallebudgera products, but I just tried to search them and no luck. They must have gone under.

Thanks Bridge - I just had a google too and it looks like they are only operating in Queensland.

I'll give my Thursday Plantation cream a go and see if it makes a difference.

Happy, I just mentioned at afternoon tea (a once weekly affair, after our staff meeting) that I had added Nimbin to the places that I want to go for weekend trips and the sweet young things that I work with were really shocked :H:H One of them ventured to say that I might find it a bit rad :H:H

Hiya Undies, here I are ...

Sorry Missy, can't help because I'm simply a plain old flavourless/odourless Aeroguard spritz girl.

Got a vaguely interesting story to report ... remember a while ago I had the bloods done and found I had 7.4 cholest and was told to take the skin off my chicken, exercise more, stop smoking and come back in a month? .... well, I went to Nige's GP instead. He was aware of what's transpired and I told him there's NO WAY I can address the smoking ish at the moment. He was fine with that and gave me some pills to fix the cholesterol shit - come back in three months.

So he also asked if I needed something to relax a bit and stop the scary palpitations - sure I say. So I go to the Chemist to pick up my prescription and she says "Look, although I'm a pharmacist, I hate seeing the way these pills are handed out. You're feeling the way you're supposed to be feeling under the circumstances. Two glasses of wine at night will be much better for you than this stuff. Interesting, non?

The trick would be sticking to the two but ...

                  Hello Undies!
haven't been on MWO since Wed 2nd October!!!
                  So sorry.

I have been busy, but definitely not important.

                  First....
I got in the top ten at the State titles over the long weekend. So lots of work to do for the next titles but I have 12 months to do it!

                  Then, the Naval Review....
I'm famous! Went to the Beat the retreat at the Naval review and this pic is in the defence force pic gallery.... I'm in the front row next to the ex Viet vet in the green jacket and the other Viet vet in the wheelchair.

Then, next thing I get all involved with RFS with preparation for fires then the real thing. Am a bit buggered at the moment.
Our crews have been fighting fires all week. I've been staying up at Wingello. Have next few days off at home.
Here's a pic of the smoke coming over the Illawarra escarpment last Thursday. Sorry, no pics of the fire line. Too effing busy (and scared).
Note the delineating line of blue to the south. It was quite amazing.

Happs, here is the paddock where I took that pic last month for you... you can just (if you squint) make out the escarpment. Taken yesty on my way home from Wingello.

Went to the Salvos today and offered our little SC unit down the back. So will be busy tomorrow cleaning it up for people whose house has burnt down and need a place to stay for a while.

Now I'm going to read back a bit to try to catch up.
Thanks Missy for checking up on me last week. I appreciate that.

One fire got to within about 7 km as the crow flies from my place, but not worried as it would have stopped at the escarpment.... difficult to travel down the escarpment which is also rainforest, plus onshore sea breezes in the morning. Ember attack was the main concern. Mr Rags and I had hoses ready to defend, and cars packed with the Teddies. The ute was on the verge ready to go. Can't scratch the ute!

She was going to try to check in the arvo.

I think it is the freaky light that is discombobulating me Froglette. I've just not come across it before. I'm sure all you guys have lots of experience with it, but it is really new to me.
Ahhh, just reading back and saw this...
Missy, about 3 hours after we chatted, I was on duty. By now you'll know about the Balmoral and Yerrinbool fires... that's where I've been.

Things settled down today, tomorrow I reckon will be OK despite the dire warnings on the radio. I'm now off duty, but at the station tomorrow to clean up and do maintenance etc.

Evening all! Nice pics Rags, hope you've had time to settle back in and catch up with everything.

Missy, you need to move to Queensland, there aren't too many flies, or not the cling to your face ones anyway...just loads of really dicky politicians...I've been doing some more googling on Nimbin too after your arvo tea convo and I think your work friends could be right, the Lamp and I are going to be skipping into a den of bloody iniquity...can't wait...

Froglette, I'm still thinking about the convo with the pharmacist...and I would have read that as two bottles, not two glasses back in the bad old days. Couldn't stop at two ever...

Yep, still on Rags. Will be great to meet you. One on one if that's ok. Great pics too, thanks. Bridge will know everything anyway as i know she loves tapping into Melbourne's vast array of street CCTV coverage.

2 glasses eh Frog? Unfortunately for us, this isn't possible. I'd be concerned with the effects of booze on heart palpitations, stress, and other internal organs too. The tablets might be the ticket short term? Good luck.
