Everyone hanging in there? I woke up and had to walk past where my mother in law is sleeping and she let out such a violent snore that I turned my head in that direction and walked into a wall. So far so good.

SOBER OCTOBER
Lol Tom you made my morning! I'm following my usual no work morning routine, catching up on mwo, fb, emails sipping my morning coffee. I'll be on the treadmill by ten. Gotta run extra hard today as I have a wedding later today and I need to look svelte in my little black dress. No al tonight at the wedding, have my excuses all lined up

Sounds good, Lizann. I already got my workout in today so my day already feels good. Gonna clean and declutter the basement today, bathroom included and not clean it in a "man way" but clean it like a normal human. Little black dress, huh?- push-ups tighten everything quickly for just such occasions. Bang some out.

"Bang some out". Love it. Hope the unmanly basement cleaning goes well, Tom.
Lizann, am so impressed by your resolve. Hope the wedding is fun - and best of all, you 'll wake up feeling great tomorrow.
I'm about to cross the threshold into wk2. I'm barely thinking about AL. The automatic end-of-the-workday cravings are gone. I 'm really noticing how good I feel in the mornings. And how tired I am at night! Drinking really masks that. Still a bit if an internal struggle when I go out.
But I know from past experience it's not just the stopping. It's staying stopped.
Nearly half way through Sober October, people! Look at us go

Sober, just saw your post - thanks for your kind words. It means much.
There are a lot of meditation courses online. Also, Tara Brach, a Buddhist teacher, has wonderful podcasts avail via the iTunes Store that you might want to check out. She is a very pragmatic American Buddhist with a great sense of humour. The podcasts are on a theme each week, and include a guided meditation. Pema Chodron also writes some great stuff on addiction - all her early writing is great (the later books get a bit intense, pure & technical re the Buddhist thing for me)'. The Places That Scare You is a great place to start re general
ideas re mindfulness. Have a lovely weekend x

SOBER OCTOBER
Happy Saturday. It's the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Bought some Becks non alcohol beer for myself and those who don't want to drink and drive on Sunday when we do our turkey dinner. We have been so fortunate with the weather. It's. 22 Celsius (low 70's) and sunny.
I hope to walk in the forest later on today. Went in this morning and it took me and hubby half an hour to get all the burrs off my spandex pants. Lol"If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading."

SOBER OCTOBER
Hey, all. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving, Sober. Seems like you will be in close proximity to booze. Gonna be a good test for you- you up for it? I'm curious to hear how Lizann fared at the wedding. As for me- I hope to have a nice relaxing day, gonna have a few hours of alone time today and I can use it, got a lot accomplished yesterday. Reading, running and watching football, maybe a nap- that's my only agenda. Before bed last night I was sitting in my yard just staring at the sky, nice breeze, very quiet, working on settling my thoughts and enjoying some peace and what I am pretty sure is the last mosquito still alive this time of year somehow tracked me down and bit me square in the forehead. There is nothing peaceful about that. Bastard.

SOBER OCTOBER
Good morning all. I thought of you all a lot last night. I did not drink, but it wasn't easy. The evening started with such a desire, didnt think I could resist. I stole a few quiet moments away and alone, just to get centered and focused. The rest of the evening was a breeze. Thank you all for all the support and comments here, sincerely don't think I could've gone al free without you. Feeling stronger in my resolve today as it is 30 Al free days for me today, again.
