SOBER OCTOBER
Good morning everyone--another rough night of not sleeping, but am trying not to let it bother me too much and stay positive despite the tiredness. Still better than hungover.
Congratulations Nursie on Day 2, that's an enormous achievement. Of course you feel like staying in bed all day, your body needs time to recover. I'm sorry you have other obligations, but take it easy on yourself, and be proud of your accomplishment and let that carry you through the tough times today.
Congrats as well Quake, glad to be on this journey with you and the rest of the October group.
Tom, what do frogs eat? Does it have the run of the home? My pitbull might have a bit of field day with your beloved pet
Happy day off for those who have it, time for some R&R for this recovering one, Gally

Tom, I have adjusted my halo to a devilish slant and, henceforth, will not strive for perfection but just to stay sober.
On yor other thread about tackling other vices you reminded me in my quest for perfection. I, too, want to give up caffeine, sugar and other unmentionables but I have learned to tackle one vice at a time; alcohol being the root problem.
Gally,it only gets better. Sleep will improve. I promise."If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading."

Hi, SoberSoul
Several people here have found that AL and Sugar feed on one another - due to similarities in metabolism - and that avoiding one helps with the other. There are a couple threads concerning this. We'd enjoy seeing you over there!
You sound like you're doing really well. :h NS

Hey Sugar, how's it going? I'm hanging around here these days. I find I crave sugar more without al, although I must admit 30 days in the cravings have lessened.
Tom I love the halo analogy. So true, I don't need perfection, I just need to not drink. I did come home after the funeral and repast and run. I walked outside for about 40 minutes first.
Welcome odat! We're halfway through this month
Gally and Nursie how are you doing?
Well I've had a very emotionally draining weekend so please excuse me. I'm going to watch some mindless tv and call it a night.
Thanks for all the support. . .this stuff really works!

Nightly check in. i made a real effort to avoid overdosing on sugar this time. Really helped. I haven't cut it out completely but I made sure not to compensate with cookies/ice-cream/candy when I gave up alochol. I actually made a low fat treat that hit the spot and I would have some of that every night. Now that I'm thinking about it, I haven't had any for the last couple of days and I can feel the sugar binge coming on. Guess I'll be making it again tomorrow.
1 container Fat Free or Low Fat cool whip
1 package low fat vanilla pudding (just the dry mix, don't make the pudding)
1 can crushed pineapple (undrained)
1 or 2 small cans of mandarin oranges (drained)
Mix the pudding together with the pineapple then stir in the cool whip and the oranges. Delicious. Sweet because of the fruit."Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett
