Job's fine Recs - will take the month to get used to travelling and get me feet right under the work station, but yeah, hopefully it will be good for me, them and fun in general.

As for all set... i think so... not really thinking about it...POA is to just drive there, big hello hug to whizzy, run, big tata hug to whizzy, and drive back. (Simple, yeah? Just dont mention the run is 26.2 miles long)

Amy behaving Recs?! What with all the news about Amy I am sorry to say I forgot (momentarily) about Poppy. Hope they end up being bessie mates
That sounds promising with the job arsey - I hope it works out for you.

I can understand not thinking too hard about the marathon, if you think too hard about it you might not want to do it.

As for amy, no she doesn't do behaving yet :upset:, but I'm working on it! :goodjob:

Got a bit of bad news today. Mrs. T has been diagnosed with diabetes. Both her parents have it, and she had gestational diabetes during both pregnancies. So not entirely unexpected, except that she had no obvious symptoms and leads a relatively healthy lifestyle - she doesn't even like choklits (crazy, I know). Some changes are called for, plus she's been put on meds. Her blood sugar count is hovering between 16- 18 at the moment . The normal range is somewhere between 2 and 6, or something like that.

Other than that all is well enough. Off for a squiz back.
X-post tips. Sorry to hear about the missus. Must admit I don't know too much about diabetes, other than it involves high blood sugar levels.

Oh heck Tips. Do you know anything about juicing? It seems to be another weapon in the fight against late onset diabetes.

Knee just a bit sore but not done any running on it except a gentle jog yesterday.

Hope you are feeling OK Jackie.

Looking forward to seeing Mr D'arsey on Saturday even if I canna do the marathon on Sunday!

Love to rest of youse lot

Sorry to hear about this Tips, does she eat sugar in any other form?I know sweets are the obvious form but there's lots in a lot of other not so obvious foods.

              Oh dear.

I was just going to pop in real fast till I saw this. Really sorry Tipps... :l

I think she'll probably need to go Low Carb... look at the Paleo Diet and juicing really helps a lot like Whizzy said. Cinnamon is really good for keeping your blood sugar stable and a 500mg cap of that 3-4 times a day might help.

I think I have a diabetic cookbook somewhere... if I come across it I'll send it to you.

Anyway, was only doing a fly-by. I'm "mid-Lease" (a Starbucks one so at least I have some kind of picture of WTF is going on behind the blah blah blah!) and need to go squint at it some more.

If I don't catch yiz a bit later, I'll see yiz on the morrow... X

So sorry to hear that Tipster :l
                  Diet change should help ?
                  - one thing I know - white flour & all associated with it cause rise in blood suger sometimes more than pure sugar itself :egad:

I know juicing is really popular on here, and some people really like it, see benefits but the info I've been give by nutritionists is that it breaks down the cell walls and fibre in the veggies, fruits etc, which raises the GI - makes whatever sugars in there more available and also reduces nutrients as they get exposed to air.

Also some people make up smoothies which end up full of fruit juices which can be just as bad as refined sugar.

Juices don't score as high on the saiety index compared to whole foods.

Advice is to have the occasional juice, use them to supplement a diet.

Agreed - heard that too - e.g. orange juice raises blood sugar quicker than the whole fruit. Makes sense really

You are right on all counts! When I say juicing, I mean VEGETABLE juice... using a centrifugal juicer. (Unless it's spinach which would be a waste... shove that in the blender.) You also have to drink the juice right away to avoid the nutrients being lost by oxidation.

Have you seen "Fat Sick and Nearly Dead" on Netflix Blondie? That will totally explain wot I'm waffling about. And we all know how well I waffle...

A diabetic has to stay away from fruit I'm afraid, at least till they stabilize. And definitely wheat, corn, flour (which is wheat) products. I love baked spuds but those are high in carbs and all. Everyone thinks "sugar" but carbs are lurking all over the gaff! I'm eating them right now. :upset:

OMG... this Lease is KEELing me. I need another pair of eyes that are better than mine.

Speaking of which... my mam had laser eye treatment (not surgery) on Tuesday and she's over the moon with the results. Only took a couple of minutes.

OK, back to my double screen lol... GAH!
