Staying sober but lonely
Learning to be on your own, sitting with yourself is part of the sober process. It's wierd at first and sometime I miss being with people up all night drinking, but I know it really wasn't good.
There are also of course people here, newbies nest and army thread can keep you company.I used the Sinclair Method to beat my alcoholic drinking.
Drank within safe limits for almost 2 years
AF date 22/07/13

Staying sober but lonely
Just a thought. I am married and I still get lonely. I found I had way more time on my hands when I became AF. I started taking Spanish classes and yoga. I am in the garden a lot more, my house is way cleaner. I grew up in a large family (9 kids) so I love my alone time.Newbies Nest

This thread should be renamed The LOVE Connection!!
Caper! How bold!! And why didn't I think of that???!!! You are my new hero!
Scottish, I was a LOT lonelier when I was drinking than I ever have been since I'm not.
I know I say it all the time, but this whole thing is a state of mind. Sometimes you must make yourself get out and associate with others in a healthy environment....I found by HELPING someone else, it made me feel better. There are plenty of folks out there with conditions much worse than mine and they are thriving, so I try not to let myself get caught up in that mind game. Putting myself to the service of others gets me out of that funk. Go visit someone who can't get out and about. Take your dog to a nursing home! Those poor folks don't see a new face for weeks at a time! I understand the isolation of our new life, but I found I had to pick myself up by the scruff of my own neck and get on with it!
We all LOVE you around here!! Hope I get an invitation to the big wedding! Byrdie

I'm late to the party, but just wanted you to know that I understand what you're saying. I think AL makes us all lonely. At least I was anyway. So hang with us. And hang in there Although, it appears that you have a fan club. LOL.
