Uggg. Just checked bank and CC statements

Hey, anybody remember the dread of checking your bank account and Credit Card statements after a good binge? And the disgust when you saw them? I just looked at mine, and forgot the withdrawals I made. Living in Vegas is really bad. I'll take out cash and gamble it. Damn it. That one slip up on Sunday cost me hundreds of dollars. I'm sick now, and I was just getting better.
    where does this go?

Morrison...yep, I know the feeling! Forgive yourself...let it be a reminder...feel the healthy guilt and let go of the bad and useless guilt (about 90% of it) and move on. It's a two step forward, one step back process for most of us, but you are definitely moving in the right direction, so don't forget that! okeedokee???

I know the feeling. I make myself chuckle though, when I think about all the money I have pissed away on booze! I've never gambled though, believe it or not - lost $20 once on a game and decided I had better things to spend my money on (like alcohol, apparently).

Nothing to do but start over and try not to be too hard on yourself. I've found that trying to focus on being positive helps me get through that first day, and it usually builds from there.

Oh Boy I can relate. When I see how generous I have been with tips for waiters I cringe.

Amortize it out over all those days you did not drink and considering you won't be drinking now you will make it up. Maybe you could frame your CC statement as a reminder?

Greg, just asked me he other day so what are you doing with the money your saving. As LUV asked yesterday. Shoes always shoes. But Morrison I know what your saying nothing like a dinner tab where alcohol tab is more than food.On a little side note what is it with men ? my husband will drop $800 on dinner at a fine restaurant. Went shopping the other day he picked up some ties along with other things had a fit when he found the price of one of the ties was $150. Hello? a tie you will wear again and again. Cost per wear. He'll never get it.

Morrison, I can not imagine living in Vegas! I love go gamble and go to Laughlin often. I do not do the casinos in Arizona (no free booze). All of my logic and reason goes right out the window when I get around video poker, 21 tables, and "free" drinks. Do you work in the gambling industry? Just curious.

Morrison, I too have done that and am in debt to the tune of thousands. But I am looking forward to the challenge of working at getting rid of it. It'll take time but I've got time to do it. I've been boozing really hard for more than twenty years and my target is to become debt free in less than half that time. Don't crack. Opening a bottle won't make it better, it'll only make things worse. Hang on in there my friend. You can do it!!

Mary, a tie is just a tie, but dinner in a fine restuarant - that's an experience!

Couldn't logon for a bit. Damn, little panick attack. Guess I need this place.

                  Anyway,

Lushy, you are ON with the tip thing. My God. I'll still tip adequately regardless, but when I'm drunk, forget about it. I could do 50 percent and not think about it. And that is a great idea to keep my statements. I need to be more frugal anyway, drinking or not.

Simey, eating out is a big issue for me as well. I love to cook, don't get me wrong, but once in a while I have to treat myself. And, I will reflect and think, damn, think of all the stuff you could have bought if you just stayed home and made a sandwich. :H

wwbarb - I work in the convention business. But, as you know, there is gambling everywhere here. I still gamble when I'm sober, but put some drink in me, and my money has no value, until I wake up the next day. :upset:

raoul - Good luck on getting debt free. You're not alone there. I forget the percentage of Americans that are in the red. I heard the figure not to long ago and it was insane.

dilayne and AAthlete. Thanks, I am just going to focus on the positive now. Just needed to vent.

Thanks all for the support. I'm doing better after blowing off some steam. There was no way I was checking my statements on Monday, cause I was feeling aweful. Now, I got that out of the way, I hope no other suprises pop up. See, drinking is SOO not worth it.

I don't gamble, but give me a few glasses of wine when dh was gone and I was an internet shopping queen! Ebay was like a game. I had to completely stay away from the computer in the evenings for a while. This was a reminder for you, and it sounds as if it stregthened your resolve. Good luck.

Morrison, that is a horrible feeling! I reckon Lush hit the nail on the head with amortising it from the previous 60 days. You'll get back on top

Oh my, morrison, the memories of being absolutely rat ar##d and switching on to the shopping channels.. I would come home from work and find a couple of parcels waiting for me.. I wouldn't have the faintest idea what was in them, still it kept the post office busy as I returned the stuff....

I think I see the pattern

Irish and Doo. Its safe to assume women like to actual buy stuff, where as men gamble it or eat it away. At least you girls have something to show for it. :upset:

there's a cash machine at the local dive I hang out at. I have been making a conscious effort to not bring the ATM card, but the drunks who want me to stay and drink with them, usually end up lending me money; then I have to pay them back, which means I have to go back to that evil dive.

                              Oh Irish!

Wasn't it like Christmas over & over & over! Getting packages in the mail-having no idea what was in them! Till the credit card bills came. Yup-drunk on-line purchasing is a big no-no!

Then e-bay......fighting over a piece of crap against another bidder when you're drunk. Then you win-to find out that shipping & handling is $19.99-something in the drunken stupor you over-looked!

                              dumb...dumb....
