Just got off my mobile phone with my maturnal mother in Spain, on morphin and not long to go. God I thought I was a tough cookie but Flis takes the biscuite. She is genuinely a born writer and although she did not bring me up I inherited her love for writing. She is truely gifted at it. Told her (for the millionth time) that she had to write all about her life in Kenya, her adventures horse riding in the Aberdare mountains at 5 years old (early 1940s), coming face to face with lion with only her ridgeback dogs to help fend them off. For the first time she has agreed that she is going to write all about her incrediable life and let me put it together for her. I am so excited because it is so important that this happens. Its not only something that her grandchildren will love to read and the rest of world will read with awe but most importantly gives witness to an incrediable person and an old Kenya way of life long gone.
