When I was a little one in boarding school I got a fish-bone stuck in the back of my throat --- the nun's were so tight they just gave me wodges of soggy bread to eat for two days to try and clear it rather than call the doctor --- still ended up having to be tweezered out by the doc --- feckin sore it was!
It's amazing what can go through your mind in a few minutes...............I could see Christmas 2013 sliding down the drain and us 4 sitting at the table with a Bernard Mathew's turkey dinner.

    Oh poor you.
When we had fish and chips from the chipper, my Granny always made us have a slice of bread and butter....................as you never know, there might be bones.

    Does it actually work.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

I think it might be a long christmas for me this year.Normally I start drinking the day work finishes up & don't stop until I go back to work.We get 2 weeks off for christmas.

I think I might have to look into what JC suggested knitting or crocheting.Something to keep me busy.

I just love, love, love, sober Christmases.

Oh and it's very long Mr JC is orff for what feels like 3 years.

You'll be hearing a lot of ....................I love him to bits.................but I wish he'd bugger off somewhere..........over Christmas and New Year.

Do you have to take the whole two weeks off? We only get about 3 days which suits me down to the ground, more than that I'd have to use annual leave --- so I don't take it -- l let the young 'uns who want to go partying have the time off and I happily pootle into work and chat with all the lonely souls who are delighted to come in and have company in the library!
Listen to the wise woman, Chicky.

I still remember my very first AF Chrimbo and the absolute peace and well ........happiness I felt about 9pm ish that I'd done a bloody good job.

Rightio after Ripper Street last night (didn't enjoy it one bit) going to give this thing with David Tennant in it a go.

Back for a midnight lurk if anyone's about.

Well hello little Puddinpie!!! How's the back? Christmas'll be a doddle to you -- you'll have your year in the bag --- no way'll you throw that away!!! I always hated when old-timers round here told me to 'get a plan' ---- but it really can be as simple as 'when I get a blah feeling I'll have a bit of chocolate' ---- it just doesn't have to be somethin weighty --- ya know?? And really --- having work will focus the mind --- and like Jacks said, the sense of achievement when the first one is under your belt ---

The Brig is still ------ the Brig really ---- not a lot to be said about it --- but it's home --- I'm on hols till next Monday --- we're heading off tomorrow for a few days --- Mount Falcon Hotel in Ballina -- looks quite nice --- just had to hang around until today to buy the shop stuff --- the wholesalers was closed yesterday for bank holiday ---- Any craic with you? Was the hen weekend a bit tough re. the not drinking or did you sail through it?
Back is not as bad thanks for askin - physio, good painkillers and some rest have made a difference.
Was v near Ballina at weekend Molls- Castlebar- twas lovely Did find the weekend tough enough- drink was flowing and everyone was at it! Woulda been very easy to start... was a big first for me indeed- first ever hen/stag sober!! Tink the others made up for me tho:H It was great craic no matter

Well if it's 2 weeks it's 2 weeks --- the key is to stop thinkin that you are 'doing without' --- 2 weeks of feeling like that would be very discouraging --- there are SO many positives to being sober ---- list them for yourself --- if you get the 'I need a drink' feeling ---- think it through to the end --- you wouldn't be here unless you've had a fair few grim experiences after a few two many (a grim experience can be as simple as a sulky partner, or a family row - doesn't mean jail sentences or job losses!!!!) -- and then literally count your blessings at where you are ---- the worst part of early sobriety imvho is boredom -- and that lifts as we become more interested in other things again --- but holy shit --- give me boredom anyday over a lot of the crap the grog caused me!!!
                            Grub is BRILLIANT!!!!!!
Top notch words from the Mollster as always!:goodjob:
