    Army Thread Monday 4th November

I'm kewking in advance for the next few days Mollers. He's happy with beef and spuds so beef and spuds it will be... he will just have to newk dinner at will.

I think it's good you're standing up for yourself. It's easier not to but satisfying to get it off your chest. I've become quite vocal lately myself. Used to be much more vocal on here than in real life but not so anymore.

Ach well... they have the choice, these people that we beg to differ with. They can love us or leave us. Or like it or lump it. They can even take their pick!)

I'm going to run to the shops fast after all... guilted myself into it... bah!

Evening Jackie, Zen, molly and everyone else. I just got in and it's freezing out there. I'm beginning to wish I had started this AA malarkey in the summertime. My fashion sense goes out of the window as it gets colder. Ugg boots and leopard print dress. Really! Glad to be home.
Zen, your stew is making my tummy rumble. Is it too late for toast and pate?

One good thing bout the winter is that a good coat covers a multitude!!! Do you go to AA every night? I try and go twice a week when I'm being good
Well Molly, every night for the last three weeks (except for on my daughter's birthday). I am doing what I am told for now. Get to plenty of meetings. Don't lift the first drink, and keep it simple. I have to say I have met some fantastic people.

My coat tonight was a leather ankle length number. It's rare and warm, but reminds me of Herr Flick from Allo Allo when I wear it!:H

Yeah, I try and have a couple of days food done ahead --- Joe has a microwave at work rather than eating late --- not good for you!!
I agree --- take us or leave us --- I'm too old to be pussyfooting round issue's in case someone takes offence -- and tbh -- I'm being put in a position that I really don't want to be in at work...... but I've said my piece - now I'll just leave it!
Good luck with the shops --- hate the bastards --- well, unless they're clothes shops
Ha ha ! I call that a Jerry Maguire moment.
The part in the film where everyone is giving out
Jerry takes a stand - them egging him on - patting him on the back......
then they all ran for cover when the shit hit the fan.:H

I have heard about the 90 meetings in 90 days, they tend to tell you now to just do as many as you can. I know I can't do this alone. God knows I tried. I had very negative feelings about AA till I actually went! I need to have that face to face understanding, the support I have had has been tremendous.

I am glad the coat has your approval, I shall wear it with pride :H

                        Night Molly :l

like I've said before, don't do the religious part of it at all
oh, me neither! Sworn atheist here. The guy tonight was celebrating 16 years of sobriety. His higher power is the people and the fellowship. I think that might be mine too.

I thought that too. I have only met one person from the outside. We went to primary school together about 100 years ago. It really wasn't awkward, everyone is there for the same thing. That's the beauty of it.

I told everyone that I was willing to do ANYTHING 'cept AA --- the thought of it HORRIFIED me --- really truly! But the reality is really just 10-20-30 people in a room with similar problems but more importantly you 'see' the people who've eliminated alcohol from their lives like for EVER!!! And they are happy and funny and just getting on with living --- it really should be compulsory for everyone to just TRY it --- even once or twice ---- like I've said before, don't do the religious part of it at all --- that's no problem -- and this perception that anyone using aids like antabuse or medication is frowned on --- well I have NEVER encountered that --- people speak openly of all sorts of helps and aids --- I think it's great to see sobriety in action!
Now girlies ---- prolly should away to bed --- another loooooong day tomorrow --- nighters xxxx
And ye know -I bet I would like it too.
This is not to trivialise AA or devastation alcohol causes ok ! Just a comparision that came into my head.
But I did WeightWatchers for YEARS and the concept is the same - only not as serious...
Group support - everyone in different stages of change ..... exchange of ideas etc. only it was fat we were fighting

Read Doctor Sleep on hols ---- Stephen Kings new book --- the main character carries angst through the whole book about an incident in his life that he can't share with anyone --- finally in the last few pages of the book, he shares it at an AA meeting --- they all just listen politely and carry on eating cakes ---- LOVED THAT!!!!
I am dying to read this Molls. Told my daughter three weeks ago that I had started going to AA, and coincidentally she had just finished reading Dr Sleep! She LOVED it, and reckoned it made her an expert on AA. I think she knows the twelve steps better than I do!

I am also off to bed, early start tomorrow and worried about my niece, a lot to sort out there.

                                Goodnight Army
