    Army thread Saturday 16 November

    Morning Army!!!!!!

    :cupajoe: :cupajoe: :cupajoe:

Sorry, went MIA last night - lost one laptop and several other nice things to lightning years ago, so these days I unplug everything!

Tips, sounds as if things were worse that side of the mountains. Overcast here, but at least no wind.

    Stupendous Saturday, Army.

Will walk around the barracks a bit, clear up the storm debris, talk to myself. (SOS, in other words:H)

:l :l, whether you want or need them or not.

(Tried to say Have a lekker day in Mr T's voice - didn't work. He'll have to do it himself!)
14 October 2013 was the first day of the best days of my life!

Good morning Dreamy and all to come.

My pool overfloweth. What a downpour last night. Thank feck I had the gutters cleaned earlier in the week. Cloud cover is still heavy, so I expect there'll be more to come. It'll do the garden good, though.

Once bitten, twice shy, eh Dreamy? You did the sensible thing by plugging out. At one point last night the vibration from the thunder was so bad that it set off my car alarm. Luckily the animals aren't too perturbed by it, so they were fine.

I'm carting mum around this morning. She needs a haircut and then we're off to buy her a telly and an additional satellite decoder so she can watch her own programs without having to compete with the cubs for the remote. All it'll mean in practice is that she'll fall asleep watching telly instead of listening to the radio :H

What are your plans for the day, Dreamster? Hopefully not yet another trip to the overcommercialised tourist trap? At least Stellenbosch is only a semi tourist trap. You just need to avoid certain streets.

Eldest cub is writing another exam at 9. 2nd Economics paper. He seemed calm enough about it last night. I seem to be stressing about it more. Probably because I can vividly recall my own unpreparedness. There's lots of pressure on the kids these days. You already need to apply to university in your grade 11 year and then submit two more sets of results during the final year to ensure entry. If he wants to pursue a degree in law and commerce, he'll have to pull finger. I've already told him we don't have the money to send him to one of the universities further afield - he needs to get in at Stellenbosch Uni.

Anyhoo... Let me not ramble on and on.

    Have a lekker Saturday, Army!
    I'll do whatever it takes

Morning untipsy Tips! Shopping out with Mum, huh? Take her for tea and cake somewhere nice after the shopping - she can show off the new hair as well, and you'll get a sxillion brownie points. You must have had a much worse storm than we had. And yes, I think parents stress much more than the children - I think my parents prayed some of my brothers through matric, they certainly didn't spend any quality time at their desk with their books. Maties* can't be all that bad - it gave us so many Nat* ministers :H:H:H And no, no further trips planned.

Glossary, as unbiased as I could make it, for those unfamiliar with sunny SA
Maties: University of Stellenbosch, alma mater of many Nat ministers
Nat: National Party, the previous lot of power-hungry politicians

        @ Nat ministers connotation.

:goodjob: on being able to stay put. I want to get to town early myself, before the masses descend. Hairdresser's is at 9.30, so we should just miss it. Tea and cake sounds good, actually.

Right. Lemme go and make something for brekkie. I didn't bother with dinner last night after the lunch I had. See you in a bit.

          Helloooooooooooooooooooo again

Cub dropped off at school. Self fed. 2nd coffee being sipped. I'll give mum a 10 min head start on getting to the car. Not because it's far away, but 'cos she's so slow :H

Starting to think about dinner... Moroccan could be good in this weather. Must check freezer to see if there's some suitable lamb.

Aaaaah, plans just sorted: Jump in car, drive through over-commercialised tourist trap, avoiding same, proceed to semi tourist trap, avoid certain streets, sit down to home-cooked Moroccan supper.

Moroccan sounds divine. Saw some waterblommetjies* in the supermarket: they may just end up in a potjie*. Good weather for a fire.

Where's everybody else? Tips is being driven by his mum to get his hair done, my supper plans are made unless I visit a buddy for a movie and no supper. If there's no sign of life pretty soon, I may be forced to enter the dreaded kit hen and clean her up. She's squawking filthy.

Good morning Tips ,Dreamie and Satz. Glad our hemisphere has woken up at last.

That storm sounded wonderful and scary at the same time. We have fairly quiet and boring weather here

Off to try a little Saturday run and then a bit of christmas shopping to take overseas so a bit of a challenge!

                      Dear Dreamy
It's 7.30 am Saturday morning over these parts
We sleep in - 'cos there is no work ( unless you are Molls or Sweetie)

So please refrain from making noise there and go make brekkie - there's a luv :l
I fancy scrambled eggs this morning - thanks.

Satz, what's this nonsense with sleeping in? It's Saturday. You're not allowed to miss a second of it!

And, dear top-bunking, in-sleeping Dr Satzenbrew, I was NOT making a noise: I was being creative in the kit hen. See:

Much better than just plain scrams!

Morning Anon-a-whizz. Help yourself to brekkie when you get back from running, ok? How much are you doing these days? It was a stormy storm - drove through the village earlier on, and lots of leaves in the streets, couple of broken branches. The river is flowing fast and full, and even the little stream is quite high.
