And yet we have the highest incidence of FAS worldwide if I'm not mistaken

      :wavin: Army

Glad today is over. We're pretty busy at the moment, and likely to be until about mid December. I think I need to book my leave, then I'll have something definite to look forward to.

Sorry about the cold snap, Ovaries. I truly sympathise. Anything under 18C is cold to me these days.

Have a look at this article. Gut-wrenching if you consider the sad reality behind these statistics

And don't let the world "socialist" put you off. They're harmless these days :H

Remember the "Rooi Gevaar" Dreamy? For the others: the literal translation is "Red Danger" and was used by the Apartheid government to describe the perceived threat of communism and socialism. Similarly, Swart Gevaar (Black Danger) was used to instill fear about the dire consequences of majority black rule. It was officially part of the school curriculum in the form of "Geestesweerbaarheid" (mental resilience) - an ideal opportunity to brainwash the white youth.

Sheesh... While I'm talking to myself. The FAS search led to a vocab lesson. Prevalence / incidence. So we learn. Or I could just keep on using the excuse that English isn't my 1st language

Terrifying that the brainwashing worked for so long:l

Uh-oh... starting to feel like Mario here.

I wonder how he's doing, btw. Do any of the Dubliners still hear from him?

And Tabbers has been gardening for an awfully long time.

Cheeses! I'm really going down memory lane here. You should have witnessed the anti English sentiment! Residual hate dating back to the South African War. We used to be told that the only good Englishman is a dead Englishman. The same principle was applied to Catholics, since Protestantism reigned supreme.

English-speaking Saffas were called "soutpiele" (salted dicks) - because they had one foot in England, the other in Africa. Guess what dangles in between? :H

Still being called souties up north. We'll not go into other terms still being used on a daily basis.

NO, I will not get all depressed about my beautiful country.
14 October 2013 was the first day of the best days of my life!

Sitting here in front of the fire warm and cosy. Grateful for the life I have now.
