What? Only joshing about ports? Seriously thought you were serious!

Now this should have you in tears:

A South African?s guide to misguided tourists | Getaway Travel Blog

      Funny tourist questions
And here are a few Aussie ones......

Q: What is the weather like in Vienna in May? (USA)
A: Aus-tri-a is that quaint little country bordering Ger-man-y.

Q: Are there supermarkets in Sydney, and is milk available year-round? (Germany)
A: No, we are a peaceful nation of vegan hunters and gatherers. Milk is illegal.

Q: Are the rattlesnakes in Melbourne deadly? Do you sell anti-venom at the grocery store? (USA)
A: Rattlesnakes live in A-mer-i-ca, which is where you come from. Australian snakes are perfectly harmless, can be safely handled and make great pets.

Q: Will I be able to speak English most places I go in Australia? (USA)
A: Yes, but you will have to learn it first.

OK - if nobody is posting food porn pics, I'll bore you with rural pics. Today I finished stacking next winter's wood supply. It's taken me ten days to fill the bugger. There's something really rewarding about that. Makes me feel I'm taking care of my future. Too wanky???

That's one awesome wood pile TF. Could inspire wood pile envy...bloody amazing...

The Lamp loves Frank Zappa Reg. I'm a bit - mmm about him...too many z rated lyrics for this old fart.

The puppy is now answering to Jesus Christ...as in "Jesus Christ she's eaten the cats litter" or "Jesus Christ what happened to that paperwork I left on the desk?"

frogy, that is indeed a super wood pile.
do you use a log splitter and an axe?
when i was a teenager i broke both the splitter and the axe trying to help my uncle cut his wood. i kept over shooting the log and hitting the handle against the wood. he was not to happy when he got home, i blamed his cheap tools...

thanks reg, this place is over brimming with top people, in fact i think there must be something about our demographic, people who struggle with AL but keep on trying anyway and support each other through tuff shit. it seems to attract the cr?me de la cr?me of cooks, artists, yogi, sports people, managers, boa-ties, farm types, do it yourselfers, musicians, parents-step-adoptive-grand,nursing,caring,vets, and just generally super people. I feel like i absorb class just by reading your posts.

Aspy - I know that axe-ruining trick. Years ago a bunch of 17 year-olds volunteered to come up and "help". They totally stuffed five (5) handles. All bravado and no skill. Never again. Had to check back on old photos - I bought a hydraulic splitter in 2008 and went mad so I had enough split for the last five winters and I reckon I've got another 4 years worth stacked in the paddock. Makes me feel good. It's like money in the bank.

Have a ripper day, all Undies. Hope your doggies will all be ok tonight.

                    Morning punters.
Busy with some potential employment opportunities for the new year here.

Ahhhh swimming....now here's where the 6th generation Aussie girl comes to the fore.

First swim at the beach a few months old. Swimming very basically at 2 or 3 every weekend being catapulted off Dad's shoulders into the deep then swimming back. Swimming lessons all through school. Swimming training at Olympic sized pools with tumble turns at 10.
We grew up on the coast and we were FISH I tells ya.

Well more of a whale now. Have the horrors that if I laid on a beach Greenpeace would turn up and try to drag me back into the water.

Tawny I love, love, love that woodpile.

When the apocalypse hits, I'm a comin' lookin' for ya! I'll bring something in a tin. Food or such like.

Funny story - when the floods hit in '11, I had a friend staying with me from Sydney. I was at work doing Community Recovery, the flood waters were rising around my office and we didn't know whether I'd be able to get home or how my place would be affected so I put him in charge of domestic affairs. He rang me very proudly later that afternoon to say it was all sorted. Well, I eventually made it home and found his idea of preparing for the worst was to buy a tub of hommous, a tin of sardines (we're both vegetarian) and a loaf of horrible white bread. And he'd filled a saucepan with water. :H

Cup of tea with my next door neighbour at 7. Watch fireworks on TV. Bed by 9:30. Asleep by 10. Wake up at midnight when the hoons all race up the road honking their horns. Pop into facebook to say Happy new Year. Back asleep by 1.
