    RIP Peter O'Toole

    Peter O'Toole aka Lawrence of Arabia has died. He quit drinking around 30 years ago after destroying his stomach (I think). In his words he said

    "The time has come to stop roaming," he said. "The pirate ship has berthed. I can still make whoopee, but now I do it sober."

    I like that! RIP.

      Lawrence of Arabia is one of my favorites. The desert scenes just go one forever. You get the feeling of really being there.
      No matter how far you go or how fast you run, you can't get away from yourself. ....said at an AA meeting. It stuck with me.

            What I thought of was "My Favourite Year" in which he played a loveable drunk. So many movies portray drunks as "quirky and loveable." We all know where that goes eh? From what I remember of my really bad drinking days I wasn't so loveable.

            But YES!!! those eyes! And, I wonder how he did it? Cold turkey probably 30 years ago. RIP
            My first "indifference experience" Saturday January 11, 2014. Thank God for Baclofen!

              From what I read he had major intestinal surgery and was told he would die if he drank anymore. Of course not that simple as not everyone stops even when the grim reaper pays a warning visit.
