time for AA
Hi there all. Its only bella. Not been here for a while but wanted to post and share with anyone who has reached the end of the line. Ive been an alcoholic for too long but always been in denial. Couldnt quite believe it could be me..lol.. At last (and i think it was when i fell over drunk the other week after a party..passed out for a while then crawled home with injuries) i decided i needed help. I went to an aa meeting. Ive been to two now..another tomorrow. Its a fantastic place to go. I was terrified and shaking with nerves. Couldnt pickup my coffee cup but the people r wonderful. Im making friends..finding support and dealing with it..withdrawels not nice.. Ive not drunk for 3 days..not easy but im going to do this. So..i will go now but eventhough mwo is an amazing place to come...aa meetings can also provide that face to face care. Ive had lots of hugs..haha. ive met people jst like me! Normal people...we r all normal..jst taken me time to believe that im normal with an illness i need to fight. Lots of luv...and all the best. Bella xxxxxTags: None

Bella, I'm happy to hear that you are finding the solution to you alcohol problem. Three days are great success at the beginning of this road.My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

Hi Bella. You have put your finger on why My Way Out is such a wonderful place - because it really shows us that we are not alone. Just think of it: every single person here is or was a drunk just like you and me! Isn't that a fantastically uplifting thought?
Sure it's sad in a way. But turn that around: we are all here DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT. So glad you have decided to take the first step. Remember that you need a Tool Box. AA is good but there are many things you can do to help this process along. Like good food, lots of exercise, support from here, and family and other friends.
Also reading, reading, reading here. And posting, posting, posting on your own progress thread if you decided to do one, or responding to other's posts. It will keep you in touch with us and we can be here for you, and you can be here for us!! WIN-WIN.My first "indifference experience" Saturday January 11, 2014. Thank God for Baclofen!

Hi Bella! I am so happy to see you again! :l
I know you've really been struggling for a long time, so it's very encouraging to see you not giving up. I am so impressed with your 3 days so far and your AA meetings. We have to be active in our sobriety. Believe me, if "wishing" to get sober worked, I would have done it years ago! I cannot tell you how proud I am of you for taking action. Now stick close to us, we can help you. Stay strong my friend! :h:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:
Believe in yourself. You are stronger than you think.

Im not strong now k9. But thanks. I keep trying but im clearly weak. Ive drunk today..actually after the post i sent. Its like...alcohol is over whelming me. I think about it too much. Then i drink to alleviate the thinking. Sorry..i was so positive and its turned to mush. I want to get sober but part of me cant. Thanks for yr help.x

Hey, if you think you are alone in that forget it!! I do the same darned thing almost every night. Don't despair. So you drank. Well each day is a new day and what happened yesterday, or earlier in this day really doesn't matter
It really is one day at a time. Such a worn out cliche but so true. Can you drink a bunch of water, or tea, or pop or something to fill you up to the sloshing point? Might help you take a breather. And don't forget to eat lots too. That can help fill that un-fillable hole.
Love to you. Jazi's MumMy first "indifference experience" Saturday January 11, 2014. Thank God for Baclofen!

bella, drinking to alleviate the thinking stirkes a chord with me. I know I need to find other ways to alleviate the thinking as its is obviously always still there when the drinking has gone..... and so the cycle continues. it sounds like AA helped you, maybe you could consider making it a regular thing. I have never been to one but have been contemplating it. i don't know much about what happens in meetings so id be interested to know how yours was.. in fact i may start a thread asking for peoples experiences. don't give up trying bella, as im sure you know there are people here who have tried and failed many times and then something has kicked in for them, the penny drops, whatever but they find contented and enjoyable sobriety.Today is the tomorrow i worried about yesterday and it turned out fine
Keep passing the open windows

Hi Bella,
Great to see you. Yes, you are normal and you are special. Are you going to go to another AA meeting?
Stick with it and just keep going. One foot in front of the other. Push through mate and get back on track. You are moving forward. :l
