Let's keep this going. I did notice that once I was finished with my patches, and was totally nicotine free, my personality became, well, I became a complete bitch! OMG. Not just a bitch. A real F*****g BITCH! Just really short-tempered. Especially with DH. And I feel bad. Then I don't give shit. Oh...the joys of quitting one of my favorite drugs

Tobacco/Smoke-Free Roll Call
HELP!! I quit October 5, 2013. I know the date by heart because it is my son's birthday. Since then...I've never looked back...until a week ago. Somebody talk to me because I want to slap myself silly. Seven weeks ago, my brother was diagnosed with stage IV throat cancer (from smoking). Things are grim. I'm struggling with his diagnosis, so what do I do??? Buy a pack of cigarettes. Really??????? Seriously????? I'm disgusted with myself. I'm one week into getting re-addicted. Guess I just need to tell people who would understand. Holy shit! Somebody talk some sense into me. Please.

Moss sorry to hear about your brother, throat cancer should scare all of us.
It is usual lay something dramatic that has caused me to restart in the past, find that moment again when you can put them away and press on.
I am now 76.5 days smoke free and have saved $535.65 dollars not to mention saving my health.
Best to all
FTAF with a few speed bumps during 2014 & 2015 but will succeed.
As of 4/12/2014 I have not smoked at all and feel great.

Moss,
I'm going to tell you to get rid of them right now. But if you have to smoke one more then get rid of them, then ok. Promise me you'll throw them away. You made it for a long time without and you can do this again. Both my grandparents died of lung cancer (years ago) but I was very close with them. They died within 8 months of each other. My aunt died when she was just 61 of lung cancer. Let's do this together, huh? Alcoholism and lung cancer in my family. I need to kick both of their asses.Sometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.

Thanks Frequent Traveler and j-vo. I started using that stupid addict logic - one cigarette a day won't hurt - I won't get addicted again - I'm under stress - etc. It was only a matter of time before one smoke a day became a pack a day. ugh. Thank God I came here first, because the thought of getting hooked again disgusts me after the hell I went through to get off of them. Funny thing, I had completely gotten over the cravings and barely thought of smoking at all, until one day, the urge came back strong. I guess I still have a lot of work to do on developing better coping skills.
So thank you both for making me see reality again. I almost just threw 8 months of hard work down the drain. I'm done with smoking forever. Smokes are gone and I feel relief.
To everyone here - hang in there. I never thought I would be tempted again, but just like AL, tobacco is seductive so be vigilant.

Moss- don't beat yourself up-- well, maybe juuuust enough to keep the motivation to remain smoke-free forefront in your mind.
Did you throw the smokes away??
As a side-note, I for one buy nicotine lozenges, for when the urge to smoke hits me- the lozenges sate it enough that I get past the craving. Yep, it's still nicotine so still addictive, and I'm working on that... but still way better than smoking-- so if you feel yourself in the danger zone and may buy a pack, maybe have some nicotine lozenges on hand? (you can buy them at any drug store).

This is something I need to do! I'm one of those smokers who really likes it. If I didn't, I'd quit in a heartbeat. I have always been of the opinion that once it started affecting me negatively?for whatever reason?I'd give it a big ol' think.
Well, last week I was in the studio recording. I haven't sung nor played a note for 2 years. My breath control was shot! I have a performance in 3 weeks in front of thousands! I'm terrified. So, I went on the AL wagon again, am committed to walking every day and eating well, AND swapping my burning cigs for e-cigs as often as possible.
It was very depressing to hear the playback of my voice and hear that I was singing FLAT (which has NEVER happened to me in the past) and that I just couldn't hold out those notes due to decreased lung capacity.
One foot in front of the other, I guess. Just my 2?!"The Pessimist complains about the wind; the Optimist expects it to change; the Realist adjusts the sails."

Nichau- I know just how you feel- I really liked smoking too, most of the time, except for when I couldn't breathe well. But mostly i loved it. I still admit to myself the times where I salivate over smelling second hand smoke. So gross but so delicious.
Sorry to hear about how smoking has messed with your voice tone/breath, but it really is motivation to give up a habit that's slowly eroding your life... well blah blah I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. Good luck giving it up and good luck on your performance!

Hi is this a good place to record my nicotine free journey. I have been addicted to nicotine chewing gum for 11 years since quitting smoking. I chew about 24 pieces a day double the recommended amount! I have a strong jaw now, lol, but really want to stop this love affair with nicotine. As I have discovered with alcohol I am an all or nothing type gal, so tomorrow I am quitting my gum habit for good, this is going to be tough and I could really do with some support and an area to vent. I'm hoping this will help strengthen my resolve.

Hi Daisy! Glad you're here. I'm in a similar boat- I've been having nicotine lozenges daily for about the last 9 months. I am so glad to be smoke free, but now need to work on weening myself off the nicotine alltogether. What's your plan? Sounds like you went cold turkey a couple days ago? How's it going?

Okay..need an objective opinion...which is harder to give up cigs or alcohol?
My husband quit smoking after I stopped drinking and it seems it has been a lot harder for him. He is going on 7 months and still eating too much and wants to smoke. After 7 months I was trying to improve my diet and feeling better. He is still struggling with anxiety and depression.
Any tips? I am really wondering when he might feel better? Like really better??(AF since 17 May 2014) 2 years 5 months sober
