You are doing so GREAT!!! I bet you feel great too. I know I sure did when I managed those 82 days that one time. Take my advice, don't EVER go back. Dont think you can have one or two and quit again. Just keep plugging along...because look what that "one or two" did to me....here I am a year later trying to string together 3 days even!! You are awesome, keep it up!

I'm sure you've heard this but I'll repeat it anyway: N.O.P.E.! (Not One Puff Ever!)

Now if only I could take my own advice! I have a plan for this weekend again. I refuse to give up trying. In the meantime I will be your biggest cheerleader! :yougo:

I too wish to quit smoking as well as become a moderate drinker, and I know I'll be successful. I have ulcerative colitis and for some reason, when a smoker quits who has UC, I'll experience a flare up...very painful but meds will help me get through it. I've got an ecigarette to help with the initial cravings, crossing my fingers!
One step forward, two steps back...:h
                  I will do this!

                    Welcome JAG!
Do you have a plan for quitting smoking? I tried the eCig and yes it works, but I felt like I was still "pretending" to smoke...and for me, its more psychological than physical (the addiction). It's the ritual of going outside for a few minutes that I hate to give up. I have no advice for moderating your drinking...I simply cannot do it!

Let's follow Skull's example...he is blazing the trail for us! Glad you're here!

Welcome, JustAGirl Good luck with quitting nicotine, it's hard but it can be done!

Skull- Day 65 cig-free. Still chewing probably 6-8 nicotene lozenges @2mg each, I need to make more of a focus on cutting down. I think I will let myself have 4 per day starting today...

                        Tobacco/Smoke-Free Roll Call

I'm done. The thought of smoking makes me want to barf. As I sat outside yesterday in the dripping rain at 6:30am, I said "To hell with this". I threw my 1/2 pack in a bucket of water, cleaned up all butts and threw away everything, including lighters.

                        So...here we go:

I have been quit for 1 Day, 6 hours and 43 minutes (1 days). I have saved $2.47 by not smoking 11 cigarettes. I have saved 55 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 3/30/2014 6:30 AM

Skull - Way to go...you are my inspiration!!!

Yayyy!!! That rocks, K9. Yep it really does take an attitude of being super sick and tired of it. I love that you are rocking the Cessation Nation stats, I think I will start doing the same!

A bit of advice that I'm sure you already know- just allow yourself your bad moods for a week or so without judgement. You'll likely feel tense, anxious, pissy, sad, in varying degrees, just allow them. Find comforting distractions. For me its couch or bed with TV. It gets better soon- a LOT better.

For my part, I just returned last night from a 4-day convention out of town and I am SHOCKED I was able to not smoke. It had all of my classic triggers- 1. seeing LOTS of old friends/acquaintences and all the small talk and social anxiety that comes with it, 2. most of them are old drinking/SMOKING buddies, and 3, road trips away from home always trigger me, and 4. general social anxiety at the convention and all the dinner/drinks events in the evenings.

I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE that I didn't smoke!!! (or, just as importantly, drink...) The nicandies were enough to keep me from doing it, as well as managing my stress levels. It wasn't even too hard once I got past some initial anxiety the first day- the second, third, fourth days were actually pretty easy. Part of me would have liked to indulge in both drinking and smoking but of course we all know how that would have turned out. I was able to wake up each morning after a full night's sleep refreshed and ready to kick ass at the show (and I don't mind saying, I did that). It worked out pretty well and I am proud of myself today

                            As for cigs stats-

I have been quit for 71 Days. I have saved $231 by not smoking 713 cigarettes. I've saved 2 days and 23 minutes of my life. My Quit Date- 01/20/2014

WOW! You are doing awesome Skull! I suprised myself once with a trip to Las Vegas. I took my daughter for a little 4 day getaway, and I didn't drink OR smoke the whole time! I guess it's all about priorities. I sure as hell wasn't going to have her go off somewhere and wait for me to smoke! Now...my lungs are priority (finally). I feel a bit achy and congested, but I know that's normal the first couple weeks. The pain in my lungs is scaring me enough to know that I won't do it anymore. I have had pneumonia twice...THAT should have done the trick...but no.

You are rockin! Great job at the convention. It would have been so easy to cave, but look how strong you were! And now you don't have to start over!

It rained last night and I thought to myself "And I'd be out there trying to stay dry so I could smoke...how lame". Instead I just enjoyed the sound of the falling rain from my recliner! LOL

Your stats are impressive!!! Keep it up! :h
