Bridge my love, where do I locate my crank? I guess I have one too. Nicholas did well. Was still flying high at 8.30 when I insisted he needed taking home to rest.

Oscar just enjoyed a howling duet with the local lads and their sirens. Too cute!

Head bob to Tawny and her glorious wood pile.

    Salute to Mr G.

Everyone else gets lurve - that's all you need peeps. Just lurve!!!

Have a fab day. It's going to be a scorcher here.
It is not what we do, but how much love we put into the doing.

I think we've pretty much established that nobody on this thread except Happs has located their crank in a long time!
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

        Hi Undies
Back to work today - gosh that went fast!

Missy I love that story and Reggie, any Olive story is always worth hearing.

Nice to meet you pavati :wavin:

Thanks for the lurve, Nicey! Back atcha.

I hope everyone with lofty goals meets them and more, and for those like me who just want to get through another year safely and peacefully, I wish you all that too!

Morning Lovelies - so nice to read your lovely stories,

Missy - what a wonderful NY present for you. You're years of gentle persistence have finally paid off. Just fantastic.

It's been great watching folk turn over the New Year on other threads too. Warm fuzzies all round.

What a great start to the year!

Missy you deserve that victory so much. Years and years of stress and diplomacy. It's about time she showed some appreciation. I call that a brilliant start to the year. Did I read correctly? Did you have to do a flight to Wellington especially?

Rags, I've noticed the Ned Kellys looking great up to a point then getting diseases and leggy etc too. You could try to knock it back a bit, but they don't like it the grevilleas do they? I'm going to give the 'Sylvia' cultivar a crack this year. Very pretty. Hope it will stand up to this shitty heat.

Missy, that is such good news. After all the years of you've had to put up with her rudeness and your stress.

Hope I get to meet the young man some time soonish.

            Bridge,
the Neds were planted too close to each other and allowed to get leggy seeking sun.
Also huge infestation of turkey and pearl vine.

Am going to start on a bit of a reno on this section of the garden to-day. And thinking about what I can do in the front bit.

I put in a couple of Sylvias about 12 months ago. Putting all their energy into growing so only a couple of flowers at the moment.
Also have a look at the Bulli Beauty. I think it was developed by the Grev. Park at Bulli. Also lovely pink, a bit darker than Sylvia.

Have trimmed back the wisteria which has never flowered since we've been here. Will replace with a grapevine. Bigger leaves and you can eat the fruit.

Going to start doing something with this little zen area to-day. I've badly neglected it. Some tomatoes decided to set seed so I am letting them grow.
Now out with my calculator to estimate how many cubic metres of eucy chips and pebbles I'll need.
            Watch this photo transform....... slowly.

Continuing the theme of a great start to 2014, I just had a phone call to say that I won a raffle that I got entered into when I had my facial on Xmas Eve. $400 worth of skin care products! How good is that????

Win! you're just a good luck magnet at the moment Missy. Isn't it funny how life works like that? I'm not talking any of that "Secret" shit but the laws of attraction are strange indeed.

Can't wait to see the garden reno unfold Rags. The Lamp is hammering away at our back yard at the moment, all sorts of good things happening.

                    Hello Tawny.

                    Not so good unfortunately.
Damned expensive exercise that I rooly hoped would work, but hey, at least 60% of the pain went with the third shoulder injection. So, that's a big plus.

So I just give the Nurofen a nudge half an hour before I venture into the garden.

Missy, let's hope that winning streak continues..

Rags, how can you be bothered working in the heat?
I just struggle to get out there at the mo. I think that ? side area looks good for a kitchen garden if there's enough sun. And a kitchen close.

Missy you are rocking this year!:H

Hello to all my old friends here, I have been gone a long time but now I'm back. Hello Guitarista, Tawnyfrog, Rags, MyhappyPlace, Byebyebridgetjones, and all you others out there to numerous to mention you all. I have been trying to get back onto MWO, you all knew me as Kaza, but try as I might I could not get back on, kept getting told to apply for my new password, cos I forgot my old one, but even though I tried a few times, didn't receive the email, so, I have registered again under SunshineM. I hope everyone has enjoyed a Happy and safe Christmas and New Year.

I've been quite busy today, so haven't had a proper read, but Happy - I'm sort of on your side on the hard line thing. My drinking patterns when I got older were exactly the ones that were put in place when I started drinking as a teenager. Plus, there is so much medical evidence now about the fact that people's brains keep developing until the age of 25, and that harmful alcohol use before then can cause life-long damage to the brain. It might not incapacitate him, but it might mean that he isn't able to reach his full potential.

Lots of younger people are getting switched into the "Hello Sunday Morning" message, which I think is a fantastic thing as it offers a very positive message about how being AF is a lifestyle choice which allows you to be the best person that you can be. Is that something that he might respond to??

I feel very positive about 2014 and have a general desire to re-discover myself. I had the best ever
New Years Eve gift when I went to pick up Mr B's boy in Wellington yesterday - some of you may recall that Mr B's ex has been extremely difficult to deal with in the past. And the general pattern for changeovers has always been that it has taken place in a "no mans land" - when he was little it meant that she had someone else escort him in between her and us, and as he has got older it has been that there has been an agreed drop off point, and she would always drop him off 5 minutes early. Anyway, I got a text from Boy yesterday to say that his Mum wanted to talk to me when I picked him up. I immediately got really nervous about what this might be all about - and even said a few Hail Mary's on the way to the meeting point. :H:H Anyway, she waltzed in, as nice as pie, and said that boy had said some things to her that made her realize how much I cared for him and looked out for him, and that she just wanted to say thank you to me for doing that. You could have bowled me over with a feather!! We had a very pleasant conversation and at the end of it gave each over a hug.

I have to say that this was the last thing I expected to happen, but it is the best thing that could have. Boy told me a bit later that she is in a new relationship and that he has noticed how much happier she is over the last 3 months. Anyway, it just feels like a huge gulf that has existed for the last 8 years has very unexpectedly been crossed. Boy also said that he wanted to cry when he saw me and his mum give each other a hug, and I know just how much this means for him.

Anyway, we are all about to watch a movie cuddled up on the couch together, and I'm going back to work in the morning :-( But I just feel like 2014 is off to a fabulous start!!
Awesome Miss B, made my day! :l
