Rags - I reckon you just love people. Everywhere you go you have a nice story to tell. It makes my heart glad.

      .
Mr G is even more gorgeous than that avatar.....

      Why thank you Nicey. :l

Funny, the older I get, the more adventurous I am in chatting to strangers... like 10 years ago I would never pull up on the freeway to chat to a bunch of landscape gardeners. People have interesting stories to tell, and they tend to chat to people who take an interest in what they do.
I was at Bunnings at Mittagong a few weeks ago sitting in the ute while Mr Rags got some nails or something. A bloke walked past looking intently at the LED lights then he saw me. I got out of the car and we started chatting. 20 mins later we were still yapping when Mr Rags came back.
Then, last Sunday we were filling up at the local Caltex when a 4wd came in.... it had all sorts of fittings on it so I went over and asked a couple of questions... we were still chatting long after he filled his tank and Mr Rags hadto come over and rescue him from me.
I'm also a bit socially isolated so do chat to people.

So even if I don't reply to all your posts, I'm still interested,

Jeepers Mr G ? I love the avatar, but can you please warn us ladies of a certain age before you do that next time? I need to double my blood pressure medication!

Love the sound of the falafel recipe Rags, and I also love that you can chat people up to get it for us, what with me being so shy and retiring and all. Let us know how it works. And I agree with Nicey, you always have lovely stories to tell.

Thanks for thinking of us when you read that, Sam. In case you're wondering, no, we don't have particularly large washing machines or very small men here, so how this could happen is pretty much a mystery!

Hi Sam! that link is enough to keep you away from major appliances isn't it? especially when your nekid...just as well it wasn't the tumble dryer...

Well...I'm getting chooks. Again. Four by donation. I will not be getting emotionally attached this time. This is farming. This I promise.

Fresh Undies (and Friends) Jan 2014.

                      Good mid morning Undies.
Tried that Rick Stein recipe last night.
                      Don't bother.
Lot of effort and time for little taste, a lot of oil, and a waste of beautiful baby lamb chops..
My BBQ Mediterranean spice rubbed chops are much, much nicer, and no oil.

This is the recipe Michael of the Silverwater coffee shop and falafel fame gave me... I guess we have to work out our own quantities of herbs as he didn't say how much 7 spice he puts in.

He soaks them overnight in water with a spoonful of bicarb.
Then rinses them thoroughly. No boiling them. It makes them too soft and squishy.

For a kilo each of fava beans and chick peas add

Lebanese 7 spice which is basically 1 Tablespoon each of allspice, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, fenugreek and dry ginger. He didn't say if he puts the whole lot in or not, so I imagine you do it to taste.
Or variations, which can include, cumin, paprika, coriander, cardamom.
                      His had cardamom in it..

As a variation he will put in 1 kg onion, 2 whole garlics and parsley, but he said this was not regular falafel.

He also coats them with fine breadcrumbs. (I'll use panko).

I'm going out soon to get my chick peas and fava beans and the makings for the 7 spice.
Will prolly make it up tomorrow.

Happs - Thanks for the recipes. I'm prepared to give the curried kale a go.

Good luck with the chookers. Don't name them!

That bosu thingy did an a.m.a.z.i.n.g job. I could hardly breathe Mon and Tues. Imagine the result when I get to actually use it properly.

Hello lovely Undies, dreaded 3.30 am awake and can't go back to sleep time, yuk.

Thanks for the link Happs, I have been growing Cavolo Nero this year and omg it's quickly become my fav veg of all time. Have even been caught nibbling a young leaf or two while out digging etc.

Ragsy, ta for the falafel recipe, think I would have to have more garlic perhaps. Bet your mate makes a mean humus too?

P.S Hiya Nicely, waving hand....didn't see ya there.
