Sober January!
Thanks for the recipe skullbabyland am going to have to give it a whirl!
Londoner, I'm with you for Feb and March as well!
Pavati, you are so right having a vacation without a hangover is the best, I am planning on treating myself to a nice dinner and a massage! I sometimes wonder how much money I have spent in my life so far on AL, I couldn't even come up with a number, I think many of us would be astonished if we knew.
Here's to a great AF week everyone! On a mission, and the only option is success. My family and I deserve a better life, an AF life.:h

Sober January!
Halo - I'm in for a nice dinner and massage this weekend, too. A small "vacation" at home. I figure I am still saving money that I used to spend on alcohol.
Sounding strong, everyone! Keep it up. I spent a good deal of time today not thinking about alcohol at all. I haven't been obsessing about it, but I think about being sober, etc., a good deal of the time. It was nice to have a little respite and just lead a "normal" life that happens to be sober.
Happy hump day.

skullbabyland;1609916 wrote: Since people seem into the Hulk Juice (lol), my own version of it is:
Kale (the lacinto or "dinosaur" variety, boiled first because too much raw can lead to kidney stones- only in giant quantities)
Spinach (boiled first, for same reason above)
Carrots
Ginger
Celery
Cucumber
Broccoli or Green Beans (occasional)
Strawberries
Blackberries
The berries do a great job of neutralizing the funky odor/taste of the stronger veggies, plus they're superstar foods for reducing inflammation.
Gamma Radiation- optionalToday is the tomorrow i worried about yesterday and it turned out fine
Keep passing the open windows

BK- I don't tend to use most fruit either, in my juice, either because maybe I'm moderating sugars (fructose) or because I like to just eat them whole (after a while not eating sugar, fruit genuinely tastes like a sweetness bomb, like candy). But, as Spud rightly pointed out, without the fruit (apples work great too) the veggies alone taste about as good as donkey poo to my taste buds...
Spud, I hear ya, it tastes gross UNLESS you put in the berries and/or apples for sweetness- this really does neutralize it to essentially have no taste at all. It just tastes boring, like a non-taste. For me, since I hate eating whole veggies, I can just chug down the Hulk juice and be done with veggies for the day. If you enjoy eating veggies, no reason to go through the trouble. For me, the Hulk juice is a matter of convenience. I juice 4 big jugs of them and I have my veggies for the whole week. I just grab them and go. I do still have the occasional salad, though.
Either way, whether you drink them in juice or eat them whole, BK is right, getting these in your diet makes you feel great for the day. For me, adding in healthy fats/meats and small amount of healthy carbs, and I feel like a rock star space age superhero.
Halo- I shudder to think what I've spent on booze (and cigs) over the last 20 years. If I had that back magically somehow I could probably buy a giant house with cash.
Great job everyone, we're getting close to the halfway-through-the-month mark!

Really Skull.... Donkey poo??? Hmmmm I just plain like that green taste. I do use grapefruit and lemon which I think helps..... Ya know the one thing I notice and tolerate is celery. I totally agree tho when I juice I feel so much better when I juice... I have been eating lean meats and complex carbs as well. I think you are right about sugar too as hard as it is to cut it out. I haven't had much craving for alcohol...

How is everyone else doing today?

Sober January!
Evening, all--
I guess I'm the furthest west - just bedtime here.
Love those cheerleaders, Halo!
I find that I go through food craving cycles - mostly the salty/crunchy as opposed to sweet. I lost 25 pounds two years ago with low/complex carbs and lean protein, and have kept 20 of it off. I would like to focus on good nutrition as I think it makes the rest of my life easier, especially not drinking alcohol.
Jan 9, over and done. Almost 1/3 of the way through. Keep it up, Januaries!

In the double digits.... DAY 10:wd:
Halo- I am a little leary of the juice bars because I like organic veggies juiced I don't want to drink pesticide but if you could find a juice bar that has organic ingredients and you trust they are washing the veggies... I would be in heaven with that.
I'm drinking a greenie right now. I love the taste too. I would love to do smoothies but am to cheap to buy a Vitamix. I love kale and chard in the juice and would like to start making smoothies too.. Guess I should budget the mixer in huh? I think staying away from sugar and sweets has been helping my non- existence craving... It's like my mind just said I'm done. I will be interested to see how I feel after 31 days? I wonder if my craving will hit at some point.
Good day to everyone... Go us with our AF days!:yougo:

I invested in a Vitamix last year and I loooooooovves it, yes I loves it precious. I uses it daily. It's the most important item in my kitchen. It's how I make my Hulk Juices.
BK, you RAWK, 10 days is fantastic. The cravings will almost definitely rear their ugly head at some point, as they usually do... but you're learning all the tools you need, to deal with that positively
Pavati, Halo, everyone- all so so well done... this is SUCH a great start to 2014.
