    Sober January!

Pavati, I totally agree! Getting fit and feeling healthy helps me put those AL cravings on the back burner. I too am trying to avoid the salt cravings, I love sweet potatoe chips (a little too much!)

Free, have a good time and report back when you can. With all your travels, your AF journey is truly inspiring.

Yogagurl, that is great advice about the juice bar, you just don't know the type of produce they are using. Vitamix is definitely great, I agree skullbabyland.

Look at us soberjanuary group, exercising, eating healthy, putting AL behind us, being positive and supportive, WE ARE AWESOME.

Am away on vacation and will try to send some warm weather to those that are feeling the cold! Stay strong, I know I'll be AF through the vacation..an AF January is MINE!!!!
On a mission, and the only option is success. My family and I deserve a better life, an AF life.:h

      Sober January!

Thanks Skull.. I feel like a Rawkstar. It's nice. Looks like I should budget for a Vitamix. It would be nice to actually have the fiber from the veggies.

Have a great trip Halo- check in when you can.

Pavati- I think I like everything. Sweets, salty ... Maybe just a foodie in general. So awesome you lost all that weight.

      Take care Free!!!

Love the positive vibe here. It keeps me going knowing I will be checking in every morning and changing my number.
      :thanks:

Fit, healthy and happy January! I'll bet there's an emoticon for that. BRB...

        :jumpin:

OK - Halo, where are you on vacation? I know J3 is in Costa Rica - are you, too?? My brain is still on vacation.

BK and Skull - I'm saving for a vitamix, too. But I do have a blender, so maybe I'll just start now. One problem I have is that I have to leave for work early and I'm usually not hungry yet. Also, I get COLD in the mornings. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm in Pavati- hmmm could you eat eggs or oatmeal and something warm like tea or coffee... Then either middle morning or lunch you could make your smoothie...
I juices veggies In the morn cause they are aren't ice cold... I don't tolerate eggs to well so I will be drinking protein shakes or eating some lean form of protein.
I am a person who gets really cold too..

            Sober January!

            Hey All,
I meant to join you a while ago but got caught up in all the pages and everything else that is going on! I love reading about all of us who have the same goals in mind and what we are implementing to keep quit! This has been the easiest 10 days AF in 7 years. I could never just "be" before, I was always too preoccupied with thinking about the next drink and doing my best to find things to do to keep from having it. It hasn't been a struggle this time round. More of a liberation. I don't feel like I have a ball and chain attached to me anymore. I think I was able to let AL go as I was finally able to achieve the final stage of grieving for my fiance. I'M FFFFRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! SOO GOOD!
See you here for the rest of days!

Glad I found this thread. Day #22 AF so I guess I belong here! Feeling okay, but still tirade & unmotivated. I don't do as well with the shorter days & less sunlight anyway, so I am still tired without AL as my driving force, but I am simply listening to my body & not the clock when I can. Avoiding getting too Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired by eating regularly only whole foods! staying mellow with prayer! meditation & these forums, staying close to my non drinking fianc? & reaching out to others in need, and sleeping & napping when needed. Thank you all for listening.

                      Welcome Tree and Rivergal,
You've come to a great place with lots of support. Dashing off before I board my plane. Nothing new to report in 2014, still lots of travel -- no complaints.

                          Sober January!

                          Hi, all:

Tree - that's how I feel. I have quit before for 30 days here and there, but never with the intention of quitting for good. This time I do have the intention of quitting for good, and therefore the choice to drink for me is off the table. That doesn't mean I don't struggle or get sad and weary, but I am not constantly making deals with myself about when I can drink, how much I can drink, how long I have to quit to prove I don't have to forever...

So, I have the intention of quitting for good, but that can seem overwhelming, so it is great for me to do the roll call thread for a daily check in, and this thread with you all for a promise of being sober for a month. Anyone can do that, right?? Glad you came by.

River - it is great that your fiance doesn't drink - that should be such a support for you. I was tired for a while, too. Part of it is winter in my opinion. No sun means bedtime, right? Have you tried some vitamin D and B?

BK - I'm with you. I'll eat most things at most times. I had a long hike today - the best part of exercise is that I get to eat more!

Halo - I'm not much of a baker, but I might try some tomorrow. I also want to learn to make my own granola because all of the store bought stuff is too sweet for me. I don't eat wheat (discovered it was causing eye allergies when I gave it up for the diet. I added it back and the allergies came back.) Does anyone make good muffins or granola? Recipe?

FAL - Have a great trip. Your job sounds exhausting and exhilarating at the same time. I'm glad you enjoyed your time off.

Skull - hope you're having a great weekend.

NS - thanks for stopping by.

                          Jan. 11, over and out.

                            Sober January!

Hi River, Tree, any others that I missed, so glad you're here!

I'm doing pretty well this sober Sunday morning... I've only got 17 days to go until 90 days... I'm focused on that shit like it's a finish line to a race! Except it's not a "finish" line as I'll then move the goalpost to 120 days (not to mix metaphors...)

Hope everyone is well this morning!

Nothing new for me to report -- 20 hours in transit. Turned down the AL four times on two different flights plus avoided any temptations in the lounges. Can't say the same for the chocolate nibblies but no complaints. Feeling good and ready for a long week in the field.
