    Sober March- Who's in??

    Hi, All:

I'm back. Not drinking this weekend, and another friend has also quit. She used to be my drinking buddy, so it is not entirely surprising that we found ourselves in this position together. I didn't get any pressure to quit, just curiosity. No one else doesn't have an off switch, so there were not guilty ones either. All in all a ton of laughing, even as we tended to the mom of one of my friends (a 2nd mother to me) who is terminally sick. It was a great weekend, enhanced by the fact that I was sober. So, Skull, I didn't keep it light, but it all worked out in the end. Thanks for your support.

SpiritGirl - GREAT for you to come here when you're wobbly - and excellent work making it through the first sober weekend. Keep using this site for support - you won't regret it.

So true, BK - making it through any craving is not even close in comparison with losing your weekend.

SoberSoul - Maybe you should just throw away the cork screw for good? In desperate times I have been known to push a cork into a bottle so I could get the wine out. I'm glad you stayed strong - good luck with your move.

Spirit - I first saw the Brene Brown talk from Free's link - I was weeping by the end.

    Lead - you sound great.

I'm off for some Sunday afternoon Yoga - inspired by my gurus here. March 9, nearly a third of the way through the third sober month of the year. Day 98 for me!

It really is a great read when you read about how many others continue on this eventual road to Firewater Freedom. These posts continue to help me keep a "check" on me.

                Sober March- Who's in??

Chugging along here. I LOVE daylight savings time - the extra hour lost is hard for a bit but the extra light in the evenings gives me so much more energy after work.

Hope everyone is well. Great yoga yesterday - now I just have to figure out how to fit it in during the week.

                xo

                  Sober March- Who's in??

                  Hello Marchers!
I am in even though I haven't been on here much. I have Jan and Feb under my skirt so I will add March as well. I've been busy and then I had a hell of a time getting logged back in (TREE23) so I had to get a new name etc. It is kinda crazy but I can joke with people about drinking now, that far removed. That is awesome, especially today which was very high stressed. Day 70 tomorrow. Very excited. Just wanted to stop in and say hi and keep up the good work.
                  Keep marching on!

SpiritGirl- so great that you've passed the 7 day mark, not to mention a weekend that you were craving- both VERY difficult to do and super crucial... you should feel FANTASTIC that you got through it. SO awesome, keep it up my friend!

Hi all! Skull-your post about relating to my comment on Bac sent me over this way. I need a major break from the meds threads. I'm doing well staying AF and feeling good! I'd love to jump on this AF march thing y'all got going.

                            Sober March- Who's in??

                            Hi, Everyone:

100 days today - fan-fucking-tastic if you ask me (thanks for the f-bomb permission, Skull). As I said on another thread, in the scheme of things 100 days isn't too many, but it feels pretty big today.

Sorry you were feeling down, Skull. I thought that being free from alcohol meant butterflies and rainbows, but actually life's ups and downs keep on coming. The beauty is facing it truthfully, with a sober mind. I'm glad you're better.

TREE23! 70 days - WHOOT. Amazing stuff. Sorry about your house and all - good luck with the continued search. I hope you stay connected here - I believe in the importance of a sober community in staying sober.

Lead - hope all is good. Free - namaste. BK - I agree - the adjustment stinks, but I do love the light.

Spirit - I agree with BK - we need some insight.

                            Stay strong and focused, everyone!

                            March 11, good night!

Pav!!!! 100 DAYS... You rock STAR!! Keep rocking the casbah!

100 days is ALOT in the scheme of things... It's meaningful to you and I have often wondered what it feels like to go that long? I think it is super awesome.

I gotta go surf the boards to see if I can figure out what is going on with my Buddie... Skull.

Hi bky. Thanks for letting me know that you read some of my "stuff"; and I really do consider it just stuff. I share info for myself, but I also always hope someone else benefits as well. I was recently told by two members on the med thread to revise my "teaching ways". At first I laughed but then I tried to look seriously at my posts. I never intended to come across as a so called "teacher.

You know bky, all I basically try to do is share MY experience and try to laugh at myself for having taken myself so seriously. Alcohol does that you know -it helps you take yourself too seriously and it never allows one to look at oneself legitimately. As you say, Firewater is poison and it steals everything -eventually; even the ability to laugh and to laugh at one's own self.

Final thought: I don't think many of us are chatting on this forum because alcohol treated us with love and kindness. The great part to this alky problem is that I do get to meet some other "good" folk who fighting the same battles.

                                Thanks again
