LOL, I am just the opposite...I love planning and cooking on vacations! I loved New Zealand, because most of the motels/hotels had kitchenettes and I could cook all the time rather than go out to eat. Of course, the alternative was deep-fried whatever.

When Mrs. Fen and I were in Portugal last month, we had a kitchen, and I cooked nearly every night. Of course, there were plenty of amazing local ingredients to choose from. Fantastic fresh olive oil and vinegar, other fresh foods...amazing sea food selections.

I think I'm probably an anomaly, however.

Struggling lately but not drinking....and I think I have broken my ankle .....stepped wrong on the French porch steps helping Madison with her candy bars she was selling around the neighborhood for camp.....:upset:

Yep Kradle there really is a train trip by that name...it looks like a wonderful train trip but doubt we will ever go..
fen anomaly for sure...I like to cook at home where I have all my tools and toys but vacations for me are to relax and let someone else do all the work...

Ouch Kradle... are you going to get it x-rayed? Yep, there's an Orient Express and it looks gawjus. Think it may be WELL out of my price range tho!

The produce in the Med is fantastic isn't it Fen. I loved food shopping over there... over here, not so much. Although the Fresh Market that opened next to me is helping somewhat. We're supposed to be getting a Trader Joe's too. Still... nothing like an open air market in the Med...

Dottie... is the RV up for sale now? I've never done a trip in one... I've been in a couple though and it's amazing what they fit into them.

Our RV is a class B, the size of a FedX delivery van. I am hoping dh will get finished "fixing it up" so we can take to the dealer next week to consign. I have done my homework and know what it is worth and if they try to low ball us I will look elsewhere.

My friends have a sail boat they've just put up for sale. They loved it to start with but 10 years later even he wants rid of "his baby" now... and my girlfriend pretty much can't bear another sailing trip.

That is my goal to sell for enough to fund our vacations. I never really liked the darn thing but really tried because dh wanted it...but I am not a camping kind of gal...I like my indoor creature comforts....

I could do "camping" in an RV but anything short of that... forget it! My one attempt at a tent holiday was a freakin disaster of epic proportions... never again!
