Has anyone out there been with the program for a year? two years? longer? I would love to hear any comments you have.

I have had the same thoughts. Would love to know how long, the old timers have been on the program?

The old-timers tend not to check in very often. They've probably gone off to lead perfectly happy, healthy lives. I hope so - and look forward to becoming one of them. (5 months for me)

          Hi all

I just happened to be checking in which is something I rarely do these days but should do much, much more often. I thought I might add my two cents worth here as I think I qualify.

I am defiinitely a very happy long term customer of RJ's and I guess I can be termed an "old timer" as I was lucky enough to stumble on the MYO program exactly one year ago this month.

That's probably why I'm here tonight checking out the forum because I remember it was around about this time of year last year that I was desperate, hungover and in despair surfing the internet yet again for some sort of answer to the horrible cycle of binge drinking that had plagued me for almost 30 years of my life.

When I read RJ's book it was like a revelation to me. For years I'd tried AA and hated it, tried counselling, tried willpower, tried everything and just hated myself for what I'd become. I'm not a particularly spiritual person and I thought I would be cured with the magic topamax pill. Luckily, my family doctor was farsighted enough to provide me with a script for topamax (and still does) and I had eight blissful weeks of total sobriety. Then I had a one night slip and a few weeks later another and then another.

It was a few months later that it occurred to me that perhaps I needed to do the MYO program in its entirety.......that just swallowing topamax everyday is not enough. Ummm, well the book said that but I must have missed that when I first read it - and it's just like me to want the easy way out.

Anyway, these days a year later, I'm leading an incredibly different life than before. I don't drink, I don't smoke (topamax took away my craving for cigarettes even before I was able to stop drinking completely), I've lost 9 kilos in weight, I can make plans for the weekend knowing I won't have a hangover and will need to cancel. I don't have days off work unless I really, truly do have the flu or a tummy bug. Life, by no means is perfect but I feel freer than I ever have before.

RJ - I've said it before... Thank-you. I'm still here and doin your thang. I wonder how Jenram, Bear, Amy etc are...

Yes, Misha, please do stop in more often! We don't have nearly enough tried & true MWO'ers here.

Mary, I just wanted to point out that RJ's book was published in 2005, and so there shouldn't be anyone who's used the program for two years...YET! I started in mid March of 2006 so that's almost 4 months with 3+ months abs. Not quite an oldtimer... YET!

Well, I don't consider myself an "old timer"..., but I started in Jan, so this is the beginning of my 7th month here. Must admit, the best I've felt, in over 30 yrs of serious drinking!:lol Thanks RJ! And everyone here:h :P :d :rollin

9 kilos, that is like 18 pounds.....wow!! I hope I can lose that much!! I guess if I cut down as much as I have (instead of drinking a 12 pack a day over each weekend, only 3-6, I will too!!!)

I am trying mod, is anyone else and doing well long term?? Gabby are you going to stay abs forever or go mod at some point?? i just can't picture abs forever, except weekdays........would make me binge or something I fear!: :|

I've been out of pocket for awhile, but I want to get my 2 cents in. I've wondered about the long term results of MWO since I started. Thanks Mary for starting this thread, and thanks Misha_io for responding. I too would like to hear from others. I was also a 30 year plus drinker. A habit you work on for that long, you don't break over night, but this is by far my best attempt, and so far I'm pleased with the results. I haven't experienced abs for more than 12 days at a time, but thank God, any time I have drank (wine) it hasn't been more than 1 1/2 or 2 glasses and no more than twice a week, and what's more amazing, I don't want any more than that. :rollin That's almost nothing compared to the 8 or 9 glasses every evening for over 30 years. I've been in since May 8th of this year. E.

                              Hi Maryann,
may I bud in on the metric/imperial conversion.
9 kilos are exactly 19.84 pounds. Oh how I would love to drop that weight no matter what you call it.
