    Army Thread Sunday 30th March

Fuck, fuck................double fuck. Just got a call from my cousin. My Granny's had a serious fall in the bath last night, didn't have her call button with her. She's been there all night and the police had to break in.........very badly bruised, in shock and on her way to hospital.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Damn! A girl goes for a little walk to the flea market and comes back to 4 pages!
Great conversations going on here. I was just over at the Sunday shout out and am impressed with how much sober time you all have under your belts-- I signed on in July (i think) of 2011 and sometimes think, if only... I can remember Molly's very first post. And she just stuck with it. Wonder how she's doing down in Portugal? Lucky doggie.

Sat, I don't have a juicer. I go back and forth with whether or not I really want one. I think I prefer a mixer that is strong enough to pulverize the entire fruit/veg into a smoothie of sorts. How's it going with your trainer? Is he the one you're sending down to get even with Tipps?:H

Jackie, that cracked me up with the 2 boiled oranges! I think the ONLY reason you would need them is to make that delicious cake-- don't you want to bake it anyway? mmmmm.. I wish I had that cake right here, right now! The movie basically sucked. Even my BF thought so and he has a pretty high tolerance for crappy films!

How was the nana nap, Dreamy-- I could go for one of those about now! But the sun is shining and it's so warm out so I'd feel guilty.

Big wave out to you all!!

I have been making soup from veg all winter - basically pureed veg
So with summer coming I would like to switch to juicing / pulping the raw veg.
I would like to maybe include the whole veg without taking the pulp out - the fibre .

NS if you are reading this -you may know a thing or two ?
Hey, Satz. Generally just eating the whole fruit would be my choice. There is quite a bit of sugar in fruit but if you eat the whole thing, the undegraded fiber that is present slows down its absorption, which is better than a "sugar dump". Further, there is a limit to the number of pieces of fruit a person can eat at a time. Few people would sit down and eat 4 oranges but would easily drink the water + sugar (juice) from that many or more. If you prefer to drink your fruit, I'm with LC - the blended whole fruit (water + sugar + degraded fiber) would be a better option in my opinion - pretty much like the soups you've been making.

Happy Mother's Day to the moms celebrating today. I hope you all received the love you deserve (and should get every day!)

Jackie...Oh no!!! I am so sorry to hear this.:upset: Please keep us posted.:l

Spidey-the same thing happened to me....lost a mega-post. How are you doing?

              Hi NS!

Sweetie-I am glad your toe is better. I would not have minded the gory details, though.:H Yes, I am leaving for Minnesota for work. Thank you for asking.

Dreamy-my fellow writer and editor....I have been "stalking" you forever. Have a nice nana nap. Wouldn't a "nap" with your partner be more fun, though?
Satz, what I really don't get, is that people who live with an ex-drunk - seen that person at their worst - still don't get it that we cannot stop at a glass. Do they really want that person to go back to where they were - just for the sake of a drinking buddy, or because they're ashamed to to admit that their spouse is/was an alkie?
DTD-yes, I think people are ashamed that they live with a drinking alcoholic or former alcoholic, but also, people think that losing control of your drinking is a truly preventable occurrence, not an addiction. They equate it with eating a small bag of crisps as opposed to a large bag, or having a bowl of ice cream, or "you can be strong and pass it up." We know that is not the case. Yet, it's the perceived shame about alcoholism.

Satz-I am sure your husband is mourning his drinking partner but loves his non-drinking partner even more.:l

Off to Minneapolis. I really do love you all!

Spidey, do you preview you posts? I often forget that I'm I'm seeing is a preview - becuase it looks like the actual post - and then simply don't hit Send. Lost posts are so annoying!

No nap partner here, Rusty :upset: Perhaps I should start interviewing possible candidates, but they're pretty thin on the ground :H:H:H

Nana nap was lovely, Elsie - I had two late nights in a row, and just can't do that any more - the thinking thing likes to switch off at 10. So this was absolutely necessary, not an indulgence!

Just made some coffee - anybody else?

Was just over at the park an there was a group of 8 or so people playing really crazy, little kid like instruments and singing, and it was so nice-- innocent, full of life and hope. I felt really lucky to be in that place at that time..

                    xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo to you all--

Great experience in the park, Elsie. I love G man's sig, about miracles waiting outside.

I try not to have coffee after 5, because of my come and go insomnia, but I do make exceptions from time to time.

NS agree totally on the fruit - and I usually just stick to berries.
The juicer I want is just for veg to blend the whole thing for the same reason as you give above for the fruit. Don't want to be throwing away the fibre in the pulp.
A sort of raw ,cold soup

Granny update..........she's still with us but has had a heart attack and was suffering from hypothermia when the paramedics arrived. We'll be going in tomorrow night.

The police were amazed that she's 100 years old, still lives on her own, does her washing and cooking etc.

Going to see her tomorrow night.
