    36 hours gone. Any tips??

    Hey there..

I know this won't sound like a long time to most of you but i have just passed the 36 hour mark without a drink.

My problem at the moment is not phsycological as i am determined not to drink, but the physical aspect is where i need a little help. My stomach is hurting me and i feel like i have a pretty bad hangover. I feel like i am shaking internally.

Has anyone got any tips to help with these symptons. I have been drinking loads and loads of water to help with my dehydration. Not been eating too well but plan to get something later.

Would it help to take a load of vits and minerals and painkillers maybe?

    Good Goin LJ!!!!!!!!!!

I would say whatever sounds GOOD to you... food-wise anyway. If you are shaky-feeling, vitamins might make you more shaky if you are not eating to well. Keep up the water... it takes a good four days to flush that alcohol out. I would say go get something really good to eat... whatever sounds the best to you, even if its not the most healthy. Sometimes just a good ole hamburger and french fries will really make you feel better! If you get some food in you, then go ahead with the vitamins, especially the ALL-ONE if you have it. Your blood sugar is probably going koo-koo right now, so getting some food in you will help stabilize that and stop the shaky and bad feeling. Gatorade is wonderful too....

Got a honey close by?? That always helps too.... sorry... just my personal experience!!!

    Good luck!

      ok thanks allie!

i'll try and force down a bowl of soup and then take some vitamins. I didn't realise it took so long to flush it out of my system. got 2 big bottles of water in the freezer so i'll keep up with that. must have had about 4 litres today! sick of the stuff!

congrats LJ, you're halfway through my "worst start" parts...But yes, you will feel this way. If you have some reagular slowcooking oatmeal, have a cup of that with some cinnamon and sugar substitute or a slice of whole wheat toast with tomato and melted cheese. Anything which will help stabilize you and get something into your stomach that your blood can work with. And great going!:x

Water is good for the liver to flush the poison out but has never made me feel better. 7 up with the fizz seems to help me more. I always crave mexican food with a hangover.

Keep pushing forward with the program. It can get better, I promise.

                lj,

Oooooooooh yeah. You're in the thick of it now...

I agree with everyone about getting some food, if ya can keep it down... Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate... Above all, be gentle with yourself today. Take a nap or watch the boob tube, if that'll help time pass quicker...

It's all a matter of time right now. Just get through today...

Sooooooo glad you were brave enough to post. I know it's hard to do!

We'll be here for ya, k?

                      Hi lj.
I am thinking of you. I just found this site yesterday. Am not looking forward to what you are dealing with right now, but it will have to come.
European old timers all used to self medicate. All the grannies made you eat oat meal soup and camomille tea - heck it works.
Here is a quick receipt: Melt some butter or margarine in a pan, add a heaped tablespoon of rolled oats and saute slowly, add some cut up scallions and a little bit of slivered carrots, do not let it get brown. Pour water over the lot and simmer for about 20 minutes. If it gets too thick add some more water. Throw in a chicken cube for seasoning and voila, your "sick soup" is ready. Hope you feel better soon.

                        Hi lori.

i've been lurking on this board for 2 to 3 months now and have only just decided to do something about my problem.mainly from the support i have recieved on here, some of it though has been hard to swallow! but it has all helped so i advise you to stay with it.

sick soup eh! i will give it a try although i've never even heard of a scallion!

                        thanks lori and welcome.lj

                          Hi lj.
Oh I intend to stay. A scallion is just another word for these green onions one can buy in a little bunch - I guess it must be a Canadian word.
Start eating that sick soup and one day I will tell you a long story how this concoction actually saved my husbands life when he was just very little.
