Anzac Day - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Big day in Australia and NZ - everything closes up until 1pm. Was originally about veterans from WWI and WWII, but increasingly used to also remember vets from Korean War, Vietnam, the Middle East and Afghanistan. It also also a chance (in NZ at least) for celebrating the achievements of the Peace Movement and the role of conscientious objectors. It is about the only day in the year that we ave a serious national debate about our role in the world ad because its a serious debate the rednecks are nowhere to be seen.

Look forward to hearing about your adventure!!
Thanks much Missy. Still in recovery mode from adventure. Pics tomorrow. Going for a soak in the spa. I mean...oh hell...have you ever ridden a bull?

      Morning all,

Geez Bird. I am sorry to hear of your workmate. I don't know whether he reached out for support at all, or felt that was an option for himself, but i know a lot of guys in particular don't. Part of my mission on the planet is to help spread the word to blokes that reaching out is okay and not a sign of weakness. Wishing you a peaceful weekend with your family.

Cold and bblustery here. Perfect for a run on the beach followed by a dip.

      Take it easy y'all.

hope you are ok happs, i really feel for you.
about ten years ago i had a lump pop up under my nipple, it was spherical and about 1cm in diameter, which is huge on a guy with a size man boobs.
mine was nothing, type of mastitis i recall went away on its own, but i defo got a look into the whole Brest cancer thing.

I am sure it will all be dandy.

          love and hugs.

BTW Techie - if you open the Google home page today it has a red poppy - its the main ANZAC day symbol
I thought the Red Poppy is primarily for Flanders, Villers etc and the western front and for 11th November, and that Rosemary was the main floral symbol for ANZAC and Gallipoli..

                Gee Birdy,
                That is sad news.
Maybe he got distressing results from the colonoscopy.

I caved in on Thursday and went to Dr. for stronger pain relief for my shoulder. Have been in a lot of serious pain the last 2 weeks.
As opiates = vomit, I have a heap of maxalon to take before the tiniest amount of endone.
It's helping to ease the pain a bit. See the ortho on Wednesday to see what is wrong... It has been almost 3 bloody months. Takes so long to get appointments with specialists. (But it wouldn't if I was a first grade footballer)

Tawny, try not to get too distressed about your mum. I'm she will be in good hands at the hospital.

Arvo Rags - shit, sorry you're still in pain and I'd hate to be going to a wedding now.

Re the Poppy - I'm comfortable using it as a symbol for ANZAC Day and just checked the Australian War Memorial site who confirm:

"The Flanders poppy has long been a part of Remembrance Day, the ritual that marks the Armistice of 11 November 1918, and is also increasingly being used as part of Anzac Day observances."

Aspy - are you still shedding the pounds?

If Asp is still shedding pounds he's going to be model material. Thanks Aspy btw. Big hug thing.

Rags, you poor thing. You really are having a bad run. Hopefully things will turn.

BTW giving up caffeine sucks. Big time headaches and lethargy. I really hadn't realised how much I was ramping up by using it. So far I'm limiting to one chai tea a day. And I'm whizzing out the juicer too. Don't worry, I'm not going all Gerson, just trying to get as healthy as possible

Yes, and something like a million juices a day. The link I posted one time to Wellness Warrior? she did Gerson. So did her mother, who refused medical treatment for breast cancer. And the mother since died. So I guess I'll just be taking on board what I think will work for me.

And I'm not really wanting to shove anything up my bum. I've seen how the dogs face looks when you take her to the vet and the thermometer slips up there....

Yeah, i started Gerson in 2011. It strikes me as no coincidence that i've also been dead these last 3 years. You can snort your coffee too you know......good for bee stings.

                              Ooroo.

Shouldn't your shoulder be showing some improvement now? Could there be some sort of spur or calcification in there?
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?
