Morning, all. Hope everyone's doing well today.
I listened to Pav's recommended podcast, the Bubble Hour, and it was a really worthwhile listen. Those of us who've found success with the use of meds (baclofen etc) may wonder where they are in the discussion, as there's no mention of them as a tool to aid sobriety. That said, I especially listened with interest to the concepts that it takes six full sober months at least to really feel good about much in life. That makes a lot of sense to me. Alcohol really hijacks our ability to feel good about anything else. I've just now begun waking up to enjoying other things in life-- the first few months were just terribly boring and grey. I'm just glad that I am now enjoying life... I'd feared that part of me dead forever but it's not so! Sometimes I'm even super blissed out by things in life, it's a good feeling.
BK, yeah I know what you mean about being difficult to sign up for six months sober through the summer- for me, it was the holidays- Thanksgiving, Christmas, NYE/day, all with family/friends, without drinking sounded fuckin' HORRIBLE. But I figured it's got to start sometime, and whatever time I choose is going to be hard. Good luck with whatever you decide, my friend ANd I do hope you check in everyday, we miss you when you're gone.
Free, you gettin' past your jetlag now that you're back home?
Spirit, how are you doing, buddy?
How's everyone else doing? It's hump day and it's hump week- just over the hump of halfway through April.
