      Hey all.

Sorry haven't had much time to read back and post to each of you. SS. I'm a bit like you in that I can't keep track.

I'm sitting here wanting a drink. Had a fxcker of a day. Been shouting at kids, horrendous dinner time and now I just want a drink. It won't make me feel better tomorrow but right NOW it will. Ugh! Why is this so hard!
      Hoping all are staying strong.

        Hi, Min

I'll jump in in case any of the regulars aren't around. Good for you coming here to post before you impulsively drink! Now, is there something you could do like take a nice bubble bath, do a yoga routine on You-tube, even just take some deep breaths. Drink a lot of fizzy water or some other AF beverage - literally make it too crowded to put any alcohol down there. And think about how good you will be feeling physically and about yourself tomorrow morning when you wake up and realize you didn't drink. Alcohol is all about the immediate reward but if you can give yourself a few medium and long term ones, you'll see how much richer and enduring they are.

If it would help, keep posting here! It doesn't matter if anyone reads or answers. The most important thing is to talk to yourself about why you no longer choose to drink.

        All the best, NS

MinStar, you have recognized the craving before it completely took over. Use this awareness to watch the craving come, nag a lot and then slowly dissipate and be glad you felt the urge in time to stop it. Even if you did give in, stop right there and continue this amazing journey to wholeness you've started. xoxo

Wow, busy here tonight! I would follow you guys anywhere! For me it's not about the title of the thread but those who are here. The title is what got me here and perhaps there are others that can benefit from this thread. I don't think a different title to a thread is going to help me stay quit. That's just my take. Just let me know if you go, for I would like to follow.
Erin came by tonight for a bit. CJ and her bf BBQ. It's a little chilly outside so we ate inside. Not much else new.
MinStar hold strong, just one day at a time!

Howdy everyone, seeding season is officially over!! Back in town with Bubba and Hank, we're all happy campers! I went through the season unscathed, not even the slightest craving for a beer even with the rest of the crew partaking at the supper break. Didn't stay long at the post-seeding party, left around 9 and went to the camper to shower and read. I did do a poem about seeding this year, it's on my limericks, poems thread if you're interested.

Min, I don't keep a lot of my posts, I'd have to go all through the site to find them. A bunch are in the toolbox, some in my personal story thread, and some in the form of poems in my poems thread. I do keep a "notes" page on my phone of some of my favourite quotes, but that's about it.

I'll have a chance to read back in the morning when I'm relaxing with my morning coffee, I'll be out of farmer mode in no time at all! As for a new thread, I kind of agree with Ginger and Liz, the thread name should have little to do with being able to stick with your quit. But on the other hand, if starting a new thread helps even 1 person stick to their quit, I'm all for it! I thought of this quite a bit today, and if the group decides a new thread is needed, my suggestion would be to have SS delete this thread or put a link to the new thread so that there is no confusion on where people should post. I'll throw a thread name out there "Recovery Room" and invite the rest to do the same. This thread is fine with me, but I've gained so many new friends on this thread that wild horses couldn't stop me from following!

Have a great evening everyone, from my comfortable recliner chair watching the hockey game and chatting on MWO with all my friends! Oh yeah, no drinking tonight eh!
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Hey all - quick check in tonight. Haven't read back properly but am going to wait until tomorrow.

I agree that I'm going to follow you all - so lead the way. I'll be honest though that the title of this thread caught my eye because I knew that it would be people that understood and I wasn't going to be judged. That is just me - I felt like such a failure and it was so nice to know that there were people out there that understood me. Plus the fact that there are people here that have done it & are already successful and there are people that are like me - Still trying to get it right.

Anyway, bottom line is that you can't get rid of me so let me know where we are going. :harhar:

                      Have a great evening everyone.

This is the only thread I go to on the MWO , and it has become a huge comfort for me. As long as I know where everyone goes I will most certainly follow. I am such a creature of habit which is a part of the reason kicking AL to the curb is so difficult, but with the help of this thread I have come such a long way. The positive days outweigh the negative ones more than at any point in my life and I thank all of you for making that happen!

                            Name thing.
Just a thought - if all of us would move to a new thread - why don't we just stay out here?

I find the name is not important, it is the people that keep me coming. But the name is a good reminder of my other life!!!

Good to see the gang. Went to my sons music festival tonight - wow - a lot of young talent!
                            So nice.

                            Hang in there gang.
Min- perfect coming here to post. Those days are hard for sure

So sorry, I think I started that rumor. It was just a random thought, nothing too in depth.

Well, the good news is that we are all VERY HAPPY with our little thread and want to stay right here. I couldn't think of anything better. Luv u guys!! Stay strong!!

Whew! Glad we worked through that. LOL

I was thinking today about how lucky I feel for having found this thread and all of you. Just think, 30 years ago what we are doing here would have been impossible. We have connected and become like a family because of the internet. Can you just imagine how much harder quiting would be trying to do it alone. Your support, sharing and honesty keeps me staying the course.

                                Love you guys!
