Hope everyone is enjoying their day

Howdy ho everyone, wow, no way this old cowboy is going to keep up with everyone! Don't feel left out if I forget to mention you, it's just that I forget sometime haha.

Ginger, how is hubby's shoulder after last weekend's wreck? The two units repaired and ready to hit the road for the July 4th. weekend?

Min, keep stopping in, even if you don't have time to talk to everyone, just say Hi, and read, read, read...

Liz, for some reason I just know you'll be okay on the cruise, just stay focussed and strong! I forgot to ask you what your baby boy was taking in post-secondary, obviously something to do with pharmaceuticals? Getting some pool time in for a bit of a pre-tan?

Pauly, I don't know how any of you guys in the "sun states" put up with this heat! Never mind haircut, get the razor out! But happy to see you back on the positive side of things! I know AA had a book out called Living Sober, think it's available on Amazon (what isn't lol), but it's not about getting sober, it's about staying sober. I think it gives tips and suggestions on the things to do and watch out for in daily living.

mama, how did Day 5 go? Sticking with your quit? There's a bunch of quitters around that one week mark, be sure to lean on each other for support!

daisy, Day 2 in the books! ODAT my friend!

BG, our island girl, hope your son paid attention to dear old mom's lecture! It's amazing how many accidents occur on pedal bikes! Next time you're down on the beach, how about a big "ABcowboy" in the sand? haha

Bubba says it's time to eat, catch y'all later.... no drinkin' eh!
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Yes, thank you guys, prayers would certainly be welcome. I was very sad to drop Lucy off. I keep waiting for her to come jump up and cuddle with me. My little mush. She was happy at Oma and Opa's, and that means a lot. My nails are all pretty now. Hubby is making me crazy. He's now packing! Ugh! I was hoping to go to bed early.
Cowboy, my son is majoring in Information Technology with a minor in International Business. He would love to eventually live abroad, for awhile anyway.
Well let me go give my hubs a hand packing. He needs me!

Another late check in before bed.
Happy Birthday Bandit! keep it sober
                Safe and sober travels Liz.
                Knitty and TMH welcome
12,000 steps, Pauly! that's alot. I too, slipped today when my wife and I went for a walk. It was dog treat today at the local ice cream parlor, and their ruse worked, my wife and I both got a chocolate malt. Better than my normal 6 or more beers.
ABC, and Ginger, your words always get me thinking, thanks.
                Min keep bopping in.
                Stay strong Daisy

Thank you all so much for the welcome. Day 2 AF for me today and I was grateful as I had an unexpected appointment that I would not have been able to handle otherwise.

Ginger it sounds like you have had an awful year and you should be so proud of staying AF through all of that. Yes, I will start writing lists regarding triggers and also reasons for quitting, how I feel when I drink, how I feel when I'm sober, etc. I am enjoying San Pellegrino sparkling water with lots of lemon slices, so that takes care of having a drink in my hand, but I need to think more about my routine as I know being tired and hungry are triggers for me and a change in my routine would help that.

TMH - I agree that after the 14-day mark I begin to forget all the bad things that go along with AL - the lists should help with that.

ABC, thank you for your post. I will make a point of being more positive . It is important and I need to train myself.

Daisy and TMH - it seems like we are at a similar stages in our new quit. We can do this.

I wish I could read faster so I could keep up with the posts. I took on extra work for a few days so I am busier than usual at the moment (seemed like a good idea at the time), but I will get more chance next week to read other threads. Must go to bed. Day 3 tomorrow

                    Hi Everyone-

I am just doing a quick check in to let you know I am still standing. My sister and bil are staying with me through Monday so I will be busy. I am the only one in my house not drinking. I had a few days prior to their arrival where I started to feel a little unsure of myself. All is well now though. It is awesome to wake up unhungover and be able to drive everyone around.

Glad to see so many newcomers jump into the ring. You all can do this!

Pauly-I will have to think about your question and get back to you when my life returns to normal.

                    Take care all.

                    JackieM

Hate that when that happens. Start of Day 3 already! Had a good day yest. Played golf, pool ran, got just under 15K steps. Pauly, I'm retired, no excuses not to be active. You did great with the 12K. Been complaining about being tired, but we all know that was not from exercise.

Knitty and Daisy, how great to be starting this AF life/time together! And am super impressed I slept pretty well last night. How about you? Oh, and doesn't coffee taste great when you are not hungover? No more shudders!

Thanks for the warm welcome! Glad to be here.

Bon Voyage Liz! Have a great holiday, my prayers will be with you for sure!

I think we have something special going on in our thread, two sets of quitting twins, and one quitriplet! pauly & mama, briseus & Jackie, and now ToMyHealth, daisy, and Knitty! Hold on to each other, share the things that are getting you through each day, and stay on this journey together!

Have a great day quitters! no drinkin' eh!

                              Happy Birthday, Bandit!

Heading to sil and bil for the 4th of July. They live in wine country so needless to say the wine flows all day. They have wine tasting on the "to do" list when we visit. Neither of us have ever enjoyed wine tasting even when I was drinking. There seems to be a type of snobery with wine tasters that turns me off. Sorry if there are wine tasters here. That's just my perception. "/ A year ago at this time I was heading there with only a couple of months AF under my belt. I was scared to death I'd slip. After all, I was only one of about 22 people not drinking! It was a little lonely and I was asked a lot of questions about why/when, etc but I went with a plan! I had connectivity so I could check in here on my phone anytime I felt weak or alone. I can't stress enough how important having a plan before you go really is!

This is our 8th day of over 100 degree weather. We are burning up! Having lunch with my oldest son and his wife today. May have to go to there house after for a dip in their pool! It's 6:30a and already 80 degrees. Have to go walk Ginger before its too hot for her feet.

Have a fab day all. Stay strong, stay close, stay AF. We are here for you!

Up and about early today. Some last minute things to clean. Took a nice long walk early, which I never do, but I definitely think I will do again. So enjoyable and serene! Dare I say we are pretty much set to go? I have just been focusing on myself as of late and for that I apologize. I promise to be better when I get back. I was unable to sign onto MWO on my phone grrrrr. I am able to read but not post. Thank you for your, thoughts, prayers and positive thoughts. I love you all and I WILL be good:love: see you when I see you!
