Anyone in the First Week of Their Unpteenth Quit?

Liz - Sorry about your dog. Hopefully she ejected whatever was making her sick and that it's nothing more.

Ginge - Glad you had a great trip. Sounds like that would've been quite the eye opener to see someone else with a drinking problem through sober eyes.

Chief - You can always try giving them an itemized bill on their way out. )

Sober - Sounds like a good place to find some serenity. Planning on getting up to the woods myself this weekend to do the same.

Still hanging in here. At times it seems like I'm my own case study but in some ways I guess we should all be our own case study.

Everyday I'm grateful I don't drink. I don't ever want to go back there. Stick with it everyone.....it's so worth it. You're doing great..

Thanks Don! Feeling strong today, but it's still early! Lucy is back to her happy little self, eating everything in site and cuddling right nest to me. God, I love this little girl!

Ok so I happened upon this show addicted and actually started watching it. Not sure it's a good thing or not. Scaring the crap out of me though. Thoughts anyone?

Lizann, So happy Lucy is better! My two mutts go everywhere with me and I love them like children. Crazy how attached we get to our doggies. As for the show you are watching. If it causes a trigger for you, run like hell. If it scares you and cements your commitment to quit, I don't see any harm in that. I've never seen it though so I can't reall say with any authority.

Don, wish you were closer! I'd hire you to spiff up my yard

Hope you all have a great AF weekend! Wish I could say it's good to be home but the gypsy in me is ready to go again. Traveling AF is so awesome! No worries about keeping the cooler full of drinks without hubby noticing how quickly it goes empty again.

Anyone in the First Week of Their Unpteenth Quit?

Hi everyone. Upteenth quit? For sure. Although the longest I managed was 11 years. Alcohol is a dirty drug. Currently tapering off. It's tougher than doing a grinding halt (dangerous).

                Hello Again

hello Again.. its like someone flipped a switch on this disease and took me down to the next level , which scares me to death! Im back and Im staying on this time, i dont like looking down the black hole i see beneath me... The drinking has become an even great physical need seemingly over the past week or so. I feel physically nauseous if i dont start drinking wine at usually 330 or 4, right before the kids get home from school. but yesterday, yesterday was really scary the cravings started at 1230 in the afternoon, i drank OJ, took a hot shower, went and got a pedicure.. I work out of my home every day all day and it is very isolating.. i was able to hold out til about 230, then started pushing back glass after glass and smoke after smoke.. Feeling quite crappy today, would like to stay on couch all day and do nothing, but need to get some things done.. I think i might need to find a place to detox but cant find any place around here

Whitemarsh - I understand completely. This mental game is getting harder & harder. My therapist is recommending that I give AA another try. I'm trying to work my way up to that. Just keep hanging on & coming here & surfing the cravings. That seems to help. I'm also following some blogs, etc.
I've been reading a lot, going to bed early. Anything to stay sober.
Hang in there - We have got to do this. :h

WhiteMarshMom, Welcome back. You are always in the back of my mind. Sorry you found yourself at a new low but sometimes that's what it takes to get to our final quit. I can't stress enough how important it is to become accountable to this thread. By that I mean, check in often and post. Read other threads and post there too. When those feeling start, like they did yesterday come here instead and yell HELP!!! We can do this together. Later today when you start to come out of the fog you are in now, come back and check in. Let us know how you are feeling. We want to help you through this. I'm sneaking up on 80 days AF and the only reason I've gotten this far is because I committed to checking in here and becoming accountable to the people on MWO. The days just started to add up. Check out the two links in my sig line below. Make a plan for when your desire for a drink sneaks up on you. Feel free to PM me, if you want.

:thanks:Thanks Ginger, your words mean alot! Even brought a few tears. I felt like you were right here talking to me.... 80 days for you? That is so incredible! I can do this, this time, i HAVE To. the physical cravings are brutual, and the i fear for withdrawals creating additional anxiety and by the time i get the water glass filled with wine shakily to my mouth in the afternoons, i feel like i could throw up.. I'm disgusted with myself.. My kids are only 6 and 9 almost 7 and 10 and they are watching their mother progess in her addiction and are helpless.. I love them with everything i have! their father and I are still legally married and live in the same home but are looking to divorce. I feel helpless to leave., I work full time out of my house and do make good money. but some changes have occurred with my company and they may be downsizing, im afraid of what the future may hold...Thanks again for your words and Congratulations to you in 80 days! AF I am 47 years old and typically drink AT least 2 bottles of wine per night

WhiteMarsh, Sorry about the hubby thing. That has to add a layer of stress on top of trying to be AF. You might check some of the othere threads that talk about baclofen and other meds. Maybe you might find that helpful. I didn't use the meds but I think some have found them invaluable. Your kids are just a little younger than mine were when I left their dad. I so wish now that I'd have known the long term impact my drinking would have on them. I'm so glad you are doing this now while there is still so much time with them. Getting out of the house for a meeting sounds like a good idea. Cyber friends are awesome but some people need the real thing. With your isolation with work, it sounds like a meeting would help a lot. Keep posting!!

So far so good!! Took kids to walmart today and then ran right back home changed and now awe at Merritt athletic club using the fabulous pool slides and diving boards. They do serve alcohol here. I just had a chicken souvlaki and ice water. Feeling accomplished and it's already almost 630 pm. Granted I am still tired. But. Least only a fee hours til bedtime. I think I can I think I can I think I can. Thanks already for your support. !!

WhiteMarsh, All three of my sons have some degree of addiction to alcohol. The youngest the worst. I will always think that my heavy drinking while they were so young helped fuel that fire. Maybe I'm wrong but as a Mom you always blame yourself - right?
